60-second version

  • Free (no login): Search and read cases, bare acts, dictionary, and forms - full judgment text included.
  • Paid / Trial (login required): Bonus features like save judgments (star icon), notes, tags, organizer, annotations, and search history.
  • Bonus features must be activated on your account - check them on DashboardProfile.

In one sentence

SooperKanoon lets everyone search and read legal content for free, while paid subscribers get extra tools to save, organise, and annotate their research.

Before you start

You do not need an account to use core search. Create an account only if you want bonus productivity tools. Plans range from a free 7-day Trial (all bonus features) to Starter (1 bonus feature), Pro Plus (2 bonus features), and Biz Plus (all bonus features). See full pricing at Pricing and feature details at Features.

Steps

  1. Visit sooperkanoon.com and try a case search without logging in - this is completely free.
  2. Browse Bare Acts, Dictionary, and Forms - also free, no login.
  3. Open Pricing to see paid plans and what each plan includes.
  4. Compare Core Features (free search, full text) with Bonus Features (notes, favorites, tags, organizer, annotations, search history).
  5. Sign up for a Trial if you want to test all bonus features for 7 days at no cost.
  6. After signup and login, go to DashboardProfile tab.
  7. Check the row "Value Added Services/features activated" to see which bonus tools are turned on for your account.
  8. Open any judgment page - bonus tools (star icon, notes, tags) appear only if that feature is activated and your subscription is active.

What you'll see

Without login, you get full search results and judgment text with no limits on reading. With an active paid or trial account, judgment pages show extra toolbar buttons: a star for favorites, notes, tags, and annotations (depending on your plan). The Dashboard Profile tab lists your plan, expiry date, and activated features by name.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming you must pay to read judgments - core search and full text are free for everyone.
  • Logging in but not having bonus features activated - Starter and Pro Plus require you to pick features at signup; expired subscriptions also disable bonus tools.
  • Confusing Ask AI research chat with the free case search - both exist, but bonus save/organise tools are separate paid features.

Tips

  • Lawyers who only need to look up cases can stay on the free tier indefinitely.
  • Choose Biz Plus if you need all six bonus features; Starter works if you only need one (e.g. Save Judgments).
  • Law students: apply for the free Student plan with all bonus features for one year.
