Before you start
Bare Acts browsing is free - no login required. Act and section pages link directly to pre-filled case searches. For statutory research, combine act/section filters with keywords in Advanced search when you need judge, party, or date constraints.
Steps
- Browse Bare Acts or search acts by name from the navigation.
- Open an act or section page at
/act/{id}/{slug}. - Click Judgments on the act toolbar to run a pre-filled case search for that act/section.
- Review results and apply Court or Year filters on the sidebar if needed.
- Alternatively, open Advanced search and fill Act fields for cross-act queries.
- For curated overviews (e.g. Section 482 CrPC), start from Legal topic hubs.
What you'll see
A case search results page scoped to the act or section you selected, with excerpts and metadata. Act pages show the statutory text above the toolbar; section pages narrow the judgment set to that provision.
Common mistakes
- Searching only the act title without a section when you need section-specific case law.
- Ignoring Judgments on the act toolbar and retyping the act name in generic keyword search.
