Legal definition for Indian law research
Definition
Vendor, one who sells anything.
The word 'vendor' though not defined in the Act, would obviously mean the person who had sold the article of food which is alleged to be adulterated. Vendor here does not mean the person from whom the sample was actually taken by the Food Inspector, Mangaldas Raghavji Reparel v. State of Maharashtra, AIR 1966 SC 128 (133): (1965) 2 SCR 894. [Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, (37 of 1954), s. 19(1)]
