1. The petitioner is presently lodged in Central Jail No. 2, Tihar, New
Delhi, in connection with FIR No. 303/2009 registered at Police Station Maurya Enclave for offences under Sections 302 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. He was convicted by the learned Sessions Court vide
judgment dated 29.08.2014 and, by order on sentence dated 30.08.2014,
was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life.
2. The petitioner’s appeal against the aforesaid judgment of
conviction and order on sentence, before this Court, being Criminal Appeal No. 229/2015, was dismissed vide judgment dated 31.05.2017.

His Special Leave Petition was also dismissed by the Supreme Court vide
order dated 03.12.2018 in SLP (Crl.)_D.No. 43231/2018.
3. Having undergone imprisonment for a period of 14 years and one
month, the petitioner has applied for premature release. The present writ petition has been filed seeking suspension of sentence until a final decision is taken by the Sentence Review Board.
4. Mr. Sanjeev Bhandari, learned Additional Standing Counsel
appearing for the State, submits that the petitioner’s case for premature release will be placed before the Sentence Review Board in its next meeting and will be decided in accordance with law. In view of the aforesaid submission, Mr.Shannu Baghel, learned counsel for the petitioner, does not press the present petition at this stage.
5. The petition is accordingly disposed of, binding the respondent to
the submissions recorded before this Court.
6. The rights and remedies of the petitioner remain reserved.
