Section 3 Amendment of section 34 of Act 16 of 1948 (a) of sub-section (2) of section 34 of the said Act, the following clause shall be inserted, namely : "(aa) during the period of two years immediately after the commencement of the Dentists (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1959, any person who does not hold any recognised dental qualification but has been engaged in practice in Chandernagore as defined in the Chandernagore (Merger) Act, 1954, or in the district of Cooch Behar as a dentist as his principal means of livelihood for a period of not less than five years prior to the date appointed under subsection (2) of section 32, shall be entitled, on payment of the prescribed fee, to have his name entered on the register of dentists, if he is a citizen of India and resides and carries on the profession of dentistry in the State of West Bengal;".
