INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES (WEST BENGAL AMENDMENT) ACT, 1959 11 of 1959 27th October, 1959 An Act to amend the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in its application to West Bengal. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in its application to West Bengal, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted as follows :- Section 1 Short title This Act may be called the Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Amendment) Act, 1959. Section 2 Application of the Act The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter provided. Section 3 Amendment of section 7C of Act 14 of 1947 To clause (b) of section 7C of the said Act, the following proviso shall be added, namely:- "Provided that where such presiding officer of a Tribunal appointed by the State Government attains the age of sixty-five years before completion of any proceedings pending before him, the State Government may, if in the opinion of such Government public interest so requires, order his continuance in office for a period not exceeding six months for completion of the proceedings.". Section 4 Repeal and savings (1) The Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Amendment) Ordinance, 1959, is hereby repealed. (2) Anything done or any action taken under the said Act as amended in its application to West Bengal by the Industrial Disputes (West Bengal Amendment) Ordinance, 1959, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the said Act as amended in its application to West Bengal by this Act, as if this Act had commenced on the 27th day of April, 1959. |
