THE SIKKIM POLICE ACT, 2008 THE SIKKIM POLICE ACT , 2008 (Act No . 15 of 2008) AN ACT To make provision for the law relating to the establishment and management of the Police organization and its functions. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: CHAPTER I Preliminary: Definitions and Interpretations Short title, extent and commencement 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Police Act, 2008. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette appoint. Definitions 2. (1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires.- ( a) "Act" means the Sikkim Police Act, 2008 (b) "cattle" means and includes cows, buffalos, elephants, camels, horses, asses, mules, sheep, goats and swine (c) "core functions" means duties related to sovereign functions of the State including arrest, search, seizure, crime investigation, crowd control and allied functions that can only be performed by the police as the agency of the State (d) "Group `C' posts" means the posts so categorized under the.....

THE SIKKIM AGRICULTURAL LAND CEILING AND REFORMS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1985 THE SIKKIM AGRICULTURAL LAND CEILING AND REFORMS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1985 (ACT NO. 3 OF 1986) (25.2.1986) An Act to amend the Sikkim Agricultural Land Ceiling and Reforms Act, 1977. Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Sikkim in the Thirty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows: 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Agricultural Land Ceiling and Reforms (Amendment) Act, 1985. (2) It shall come into, force at once. 2. In the Sikkim Agricultural Land Ceiling and Reforms Act, 1977, to section 7, the following proviso shall be added, namely: "Provided that a transfer by any person holding land in excess of ceiling limit in favour of landless person or persons having land below the ceiling limit and not exceeding the ceiling limit with the prior permission of the State Government shall not be deemed to be null and void." THE SIKKIM VIGILANCE POLICE ACT, 1978 THE SIKKIM VIGILANCE POLICE ACT, 1978 ACT NO. 18 OF 1978 An Act to make provision for the constitution, superintendence and administration of the Sikkim Vigilance Police as a special police force in the State of Sikkim. [25th September, 1978] It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India by the Legislature of Sikkim as follows: Short title, extent, and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Vigilance Police Act, 1978. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim.
