NOTIFICATION The following Act of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly having received the assent of the Governor on 6th day of November,2001 is hereby published for general information: THE SIKKIM COMMISSION FOR BACKWARD CLASSES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001 ACT NO.10 OF 2001 An Act to amend the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993. 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-second Year of Republic of India as follows: Short title extent and Commencement. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes (amendment) Act,2001. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim. (3) It shall come into force at once. Amendment of Section 3 2. In the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993, in section 3, for sub-section 4, the following shall be substituted, namely: "(4) The State Government shall appoint a person who is a socio-political worker of eminence, ability, integrity and standing and who inspires confidence amongst the other backward classes as the Chairperson of the Commission". THE SIKKIM LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY MEMBERS (PAYMENT OF PENSION) AMENDMENT ACT, 2001 THE SIKKIM LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY MEMBERS (PAYMENT OF PENSION) AMENDMENT ACT, 2001 (ACT NO. 1 OF 2001) AN ACT Further to amend the Sikkim Legislative Assembly Members (Payment of Pension) Act, 1984. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty " second Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Short title and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Legislative Assembly Members (Payment of Pension) Amendment Act, 2001. (2) It shall come into force on the 1st day of April, 2001. Amendment of Section 3. 2. In the Sikkim Legislative Assembly Members (Payment of Pension) Act, 1984, in Section 3; sub " section (1) - (a) for the words "one thousand rupees" wherever they occur , the words "two thousand rupees" shall be substituted; (b) for the words "two thousand rupees" the words " three thousand rupees" shall be substituted. THE SIKKIM STATE COMMISSION FOR WOMEN ACT, 2001 THE SIKKIM STATE COMMISSION FOR WOMEN ACT, 2001 ACT NO. 11 OF 2001 AN ACT to constitute a Commission for Women in the State of Sikkim and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-Second Year of the Republic of India as follows: - CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY Short title, extent and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim State Commission for Women Act, 2001. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette. Appoint. Definitions. 2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires: (a) "Administrative Department" means the Department of Social Welfare. (b) "Commission" means the State Commission for Women constituted under section 3; (c) "Convenor Secretary" means the Convenor Secretary not below the rank of Joint Secretary in the Department of Social Welfare to be appointed by the State Government by notification and any other Officer duly authorised by the Convenor Secretary in this behalf.
