Factories Act, 1948 Section 47

Title: Shelters, Rest Rooms and Lunch Rooms

(1) In every factory wherein more than one hundred and fifty workers are ordinarily employed, adequate and suitable shelters or rest rooms and a suitable lunch room, with provision for drinking water, where workers can eat meals brought by them, shall be provided and maintained for the use of the workers; Provided that any canteen maintained in accordance with the provisions of section 46 shall be regarded as part of the requirements of this sub-section: Provided further that where a lunch room exists no worker shall eat any food in the work room. (2) The shelters or rest rooms or lunch rooms to be provided under sub-section (1) shall be sufficiently lighted aid ventilated and shall be maintained in a cool and clean condition. (3) The State Government may-- (a) prescribe the standards in respect of construction, accommodation, furniture and other equipment of shelters, rest rooms and lunch rooms to be provided under this section; (b) by notification in the Offical Gazette, exempt any factory or class or description of factories from the requirements of this section.

Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 Section 230

Title: Buildings or Rooms in Buildings Unfit for Human Habitation

.....is raised by such owner or occupier within such period appears to the standing committee invalid or insufficient, the municipal council may by an order in writing prohibit the further use of such building or room as a dwelling. (2) When any such prohibition as aforesaid has been made, the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Officer shall cause notice of such prohibition to be affixed to, and the letters "U.H.H." to be painted on the door or some conspicuous part of such building or room, as the case may be; and no owner or occupier of such building or room shall use or suffer the same to be used for human habitation until the Municipal Commissioner or Chief Officer certifies in writing that the building or room, as the case may be, has been rendered fit for human habitation. (3) The municipal council may further at its discretion serve upon the owner of the building a notice requiring him within such time not being less than thirty days as may be specified in the notice to execute the works of improvement specified therein and stating that in its opinion those works will render the building fit for human habitation. Bombay Police Act, 1951, (Maharashtra) Section 33A

Title: Prohibition of Performance of Dance in Eating House, Permit Room or Beer Bar and Other Consequential Provisions

1[(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act or the rules made by the Commissioner of Police or the District Magistrate under sub-section (1) of section 33 for the area under their respective charges, on and from the date of commencement of the Bombay Police (Amendment) Act, 2005,-- 1. Sections 33A, 33B were inserted by the Bombay Police (Amendment) Act, 2005. Mah. 35 of 2005 (w.e.f. 14-8-2005). (a) holding of a performance of dance, of any kind or type, in an eating house, permit room or beer bar is prohibited; (b) all performance licences, issued under the aforesaid rules by the Commissioner of Police or the District Magistrate or any other officer, as the case may be, being the Licensing Authority, to hold a dance performance, of any kind or type, in an eating house, permit room or beer bar shall stand cancelled. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in section 131, any person who holds or causes or permits to be held a dance performance of any kind or type, in an eating house, permit room or beer bar in contravention of sub-section (1), shall on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine which may extend.....

Title: Control Room at Districts

1[(1) The State Government shall establish a police control room-- (a) in every district; and (b) at State level. (2) The State Government shall cause to be displayed on the notice board kept outside the control rooms at every district, the names and addresses of the persons arrested and the name and designation of the police officers who made the arrests. Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961 Section 9

Title: Rest Rooms

(1) In every place wherein motor transport workers employed in a motor transport undertaking are required to halt at night, there shall be provided and maintained by the employer for the use of those motor transport workers such number of rest rooms or such other suitable alternative accommodation as may be prescribed. (2) The rest rooms or the alternative accommodation to be provided under sub-section (1) shall be sufficiently lighted and ventilated and shall be maintained in a clean and comfortable condition. (3) The State Government may prescribe the standard in respect of construction, accommodation, furniture and other equipment of rest rooms or the alternative accommodation to be provided under this section.

Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 (13 of 1885) Section 23

Title: Intrusion into Signal-room, Trespass in Telegraph Office or Obstruction

If any person-- (a) without permission of competent authority, enters the signal-room of a telegraph office of the Government, or of a person licensed under this Act, or (b) enters a fenced enclosure round such a telegraph office in contravention of any rule or notice not to do so, or (c) refuses to quit such room or enclosure on being requested to do so by any officer or servant employed therein, or (d) wilfully obstructs or impedes any such officer or servant in the performance of his duty, he shall be punished with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees.

(1) In every place where in contract labour is required to halt at night in connection within the work of an establishment (a) to which this Act applies, and (b) in which work requiring employment of contract labour is likely to continue for such period as may be prescribed, there shall be provided and maintained by the contractor for the use of the contract labour such number of rest-rooms or such other suitable alternative accommodation with such time as may be prescribed. Beedi Workers Welfare Fund Act, 1976 Complete Act
