Karnataka Public Libraries Act, 1965 Chapter III

.....and library man-power of the State; (g) perform such other functions as may be entrusted to the Department by or under the provisions of this Act. Section 14 - Director of Public Libraries 1 [Director of PublicLibraries] (1) A whole-time officer having the prescribed qualifications to practise the library profession shall be appointed by the State Government as the1 [Director of Public Libraries]. (2) The 1 [Director of Public Libraries] shall,- (a) function as the Librarian of the State Central Library; (b) superintendent, direct, and deal with all matters relating to the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867 (Central Act 25 of 1867) and to the maintenance and service of the books sent under the said Act; (c) control the appointments, postings, and transfers of officers and servants in the State Library Service; (d) generally assist the State Library Authority in performing its functions; (e) exercise such other powers and performs such other duties as may be conferred or imposed on him by or under this Act. _________________________ 1. Karnataka Public Libraries Act, 1965 Section 42

Title: Power of State Library Authority and Local Library Authorities to Make Bye-laws

.....of such property from injury, misuse, destruction or loss; (d) the authority to be exercised by the officers and servants of the State Library Authority or the Local Library Authority for the purpose of exclusion or removal from any such library of any person who contravenes or does not comply with any provisions of this Act or any rule or bye-law made thereunder; (3) Every bye-law made under this section shall be subject to the condition of previous publication for a period of not less than thirty days, and such publication shall be in the official Gazette and in such other manner as may be prescribed. (4) The State Government may by notification modify or cancel any bye-law made by State Library Authority or a Local Library Authority under this section: Provided that before modifying or cancelling any bye-law, the State Government shall give the State Library Authority or the Local Library Authority concerned a reasonable opportunity to make its representations in the matter.

Title: Certain Laws Not to Apply to Government Securities

1 [29. Certain Laws not to apply to Government Securities The Indian Securities Act, 1920 and any law corresponding to that law in force in any Part B State immediately before the commencement2 of the Public Debt (Amendment) Act, 1956, shall cease to apply to Government securities to which this Act applies and to all matters for which provision is made by this Act. Provided that any such corresponding law shall continue to apply to or in relation to any securities created and issued by the Government of Hyderabad, Saurashtra or Travancore-Cochin on or before the 31st day of March, 1953, for such period not exceeding one year from the commencement2 of the Public Debt (Amendment) Act, 1956, as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify. ________________________ 1. Young Persons (Harmful Publication) Act, 1956 Section 4

Title: Power of Government to Declare Harmful Publications Forfeited

(1) The State Government may, if it is of opinion after consultation with the principal law officer of the State, whether called the Advocate-General or by any other name, that any publication is a harmful publication, declare, by order notified in the Official Gazette, that every copy of such publication shall be forfeited to the Government and every such notification shall state the ground for the order. (2) Without prejudice to the provisions contained in sub-section (1) of section 6, where there is an order of forfeiture under sub-section (1) in respect of any publication it shall be lawful for any police officer to seize the same wherever found in the territories to which this Act extends.

Public Debt Act, 1944 Section 13

Public Provident Fund Act, 1968 Section 3

Title: Public Provident Fund Scheme

(1) The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, frame a scheme to be called the Public Provident Fund Scheme for the establishment of a provident fund for the general public and there shall be established, as soon as may be after the framing of the Scheme, a Fund in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the Scheme. (2) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Scheme may provide for all or any of the matters specified in the Schedule. (3) The Scheme shall have effect notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force other than this Act or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act. (4) The Central Government may, from time to time, by notification in the Official Gazette. add to, amend or vary the Scheme.
