Title: Pressure Plant

1[(1) If in any factory, any plant or machinery or any part thereof is operated at a pressure above atmospheric pressure, effective measures shall be taken to ensure that the safe working pressure of such plant or machinery or part is not exceeded.] ( 2 ) The State Government may make rules providing for the examination and testing of any plant or machinery such as is referred to in sub-section ( 1 ) and prescribing such other safe ty me asures in relation thereto as may in its opinion be necessary in any factory or class or description of factories. 2[( 3 ) The State Government may, by rules, exempt, subject to such conditions as may be specified therein, any part of any plant or machinery referred to in sub-section (I) from the provisions of this section.] ____________________ 1. Bombay Gas Supply Act, 1939, (Maharashtra) Section 7D

Title: Complaint for Failure to Supply Gas at Normal Pressure Etc

(1) A consumer may make a complaint in writing to the company that the gas supplied to him is below the standard of the specified calorific value or pressure or purity and the company shall, within forty-eight hours of the receipt of such complaint, test the calorific value or pressure or purity of the gas supplied in the presence of the consumer or his representative if the consumer so desires, and if the gas supplied is found below such standard taking into consideration the allowance specified shall restore the calorific value, pressure or purity, as the case may be, to its standard within forty-eight hours of such testing or within such longer period as the Inspector may allow. (2) Where on such testing the standard in regard to which the complaint was made is found to be correct, the company shall be entitled to recover from the consumer a testing charge not exceeding such amount as may be prescribed]

.....Indian Boilers Act and the Regulations which govern the use of boilers cannot always keep pace with the rapidly changing the technique in the manufacture of boilers abroad, and the Armed Forces may be called upon to use at a very short notice various types of the latest boilers, it is proposed in the present Bill to exempt the Armed Forces as a whole from the operations of the Indian Boilers Act, 1923. -Gaz. of Ind., 24-2-1951, Pt. II. S. 2, p. 76. Act 18 of I960.- The Indian Boilers Act. 1923 (5 of 1923), provides mainly for the safety of life and property of persons from the dangers of explosion and the achievement of uniformity of practice in regard to the operation, inspection and maintenance of boilers. At the time of enactment, the Act was meant for the regulation of small capacity and low pressure Boilers, as then the boiler industry had not then developed sufficiently. Experience of the working of the Act has revealed certain practical difficulties. Apart from this, the progressively increasing industrialisation of the country in recent years has rendered the use of boilers of higher pressures and greater capacities inevitable and the existing Act and regulations are.....
