Title: Proceedings to Abate the Overcrowding of Interiors of Buildings

.....such other order as he may deem just and proper. (3) If the said building shall have been sublet, the landlord of the lodgers, tenants or other actual inmates of the same shall, for the purpose of this sub-section, be deemed to be the owner of the building. (4) It shall be incumbent on any owner to whom a requisition is issued under sub-section (2), forthwith to give to so many of the lodgers, tenants or other actual inmates of the said building as may be necessary to fulfil the conditions prescribed thereby, written notice to vacate the said building within the period specified in such requisition and any such lodgers, tenants or inmates receiving such notice shall notwithstanding anything contained in any other law, be bound to comply therewith. (5) Any owner who, after the date specified in any requisition issued under sub-section (2), permits the overcrowding of any building in contravention of such requisition, and any person who omits to vacate any such building in accordance with notice given to him under sub-section (4), shall be punished with fine which may extend to ten rupees for each day subsequent to the date specified in such requisition during which such.....

Title: Overcrowding of Dwelling Houses

(1) Where it appears to a Board that any building or part of a building in the cantonment which is used as a dwelling house is so overcrowded as to endanger the health of the inmates thereof, it may, after such inquiry as it thinks fit, by notice in writing require the owner or occupier of the building or part thereof, as the case may be, within such time not being less than one month as may be specified in the notice, to abate the overcrowding of the same by reducing the number of lodgers, tenants, or other inmates to such number as may be specified in the notice. (2) Any person who fails, without reasonable cause, to comply with a requisition made upon him under sub-section (1) shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two thousand five hundred rupees, and, in the case of a continuing offence, to an additional fine which may extend to two hundred fifty rupees for every day after the first during which the failure has continued.

Power to sanction general scheme for prevention, of overcrowding, etc The Officer Commanding-in-Chief, the Command may sanction a general scheme of erection or re-erection of buildings within such limits as may be specified in the sanction for the prevention of over-crowding or for purpose of sanitation, or in the interest of persons residing within those limits or for any other purpose, and may, in pursuance of such scheme, impose restrictions on the erection or re-erection of buildings within those limits: Provided that no such scheme shall be sanctioned by the Officer Commanding-in-chief, the Command, unless an opportunity has given by a public notice to be published locally by the Executive Officer requiring persons affected or likely to be affected by the proposed scheme, to file their objections or suggestions in the manner specified in the notice, within a period of fifteen days of the publication of such notice, and after considering such objections and suggestions, if any, received by the Executive Officer within the said period.] ________________________ 1. (1) No room in any industrial premises shall be overcrowded to an extent injurious to the health of the persons employed therein. (2) Without prejudice to the generality of sub-section (1) there shall be in any work room of such premises at least four and a quarter cubic metres of space for every person employed therein, and for the purposes of this sub-section, no account shall be taken of any space which is more than three metres above the level of the floor of the work room.

.....the health of the workers employed therein. ( 2 ) Without prejudice to the generality of sub-section ( 1 ) there shall be in every workroom of a factory in existence on the date of the commencement of this Act at least1[ 9 . 9 cubic me ters] and of a factory built after the commencement of this Act at least2[ 14 . 2 cubic me ters] of space for every worker employed therein, and for the purposes of this sub-section no account shall be taken of any space which is more than3[ 4 . 2 me ters] above the level of the floor of the room. The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief the Command in Consultation with the Principal Director may sanction a general scheme of erection or re-erection of buildings within such limits as may be specified in the sanction for the prevention of overcrowding or for purpose of sanitation, or in the interest of persons residing within those limits or for any other purpose, and may, in pursuance of such scheme, impose restrictions on the erection or re-erection of buildings within those limits: Provided that no such scheme shall be sanctioned by the General Officer Commanding in Chief, the Command unless an opportunity has been given by a public notice to be published locally by the Chief Executive Officer requiring persons affected or likely to be affected by the proposed scheme, to file their objections or suggestions in the manner specified in the notice, within a period of thirty days of the publication of such notice, and the Chief Executive Officer shall after considering such objections and suggestions, if any, forward the same along with his recommendations to the Principal Director.

Title: Prohibition Against Use of Burial and Burning Grounds Dangerous to Health or Overcrowded with Graves

(1) If the Commissioner is of opinion,- (a) that any registered or licensed place for the disposal of the dead or any place provided for such disposal by the Corporation or by the Government is in such a state or situation as to or to be likely to become dangerous to health of persons living in the neighbourhood thereof; or (b) that any burial ground is overcrowded with graves, and if in the case of a public or burning ground or other place as aforesaid another convenient place duly authorised for the disposal of the dead exists or has been provided for the persons who would ordinarily make use of such place, he may with the consent of the corporation and the previous sanction of the Government, give notice that it shall not be lawful after a period to be named in such notice, to bury, burn or otherwise dispose of any corpse at such place. (2) Every notice given under sub-section (1) shall be affixed to some part of such place. (3) After the expiry of the period named in such notice it shall not be lawful to bury, burn or otherwise dispose of a corpse at such place except with the permission of the Commissioner.
