Amendment of the Deposit Insurance corporation Act, 1961 On the commencement of this Act, the Deposit Insurance Corporation Act, 1961 (47 of 1961), shall have effect subject to the following amendments, namely:-- (1) in the long title, after the words "insurance of deposits", the words "and guaranteeing of credit facilities" shall be inserted; (2) in section 1, in sub-section (1), for the words "the Deposit Insurance Corporation", the words "the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation" shall be substituted; (3) in section 2,-- (i) in clause (e), for the words "the Deposit Insurance Corporation", the words "the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation" shall be substituted; (ii) after clause (ee), the following clause shall be inserted, namely: -- '(eea) "credit institution" means all or any of the following, namely: -- (i) a banking company; (ii) a corresponding new bank; (iii) a Regional Rural Bank; (iv) a co-operative bank; (v) a financial institution;'; (iii) after clause (hh), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:-- '(hha) "financial institution" means any.....

Add Emoluments Compulsory Deposit Act 1974 Chapter II

Title: Compulsory Deposit of Additional Emoluments

.....of its provisions shall take effect, either prospectively or retrospectively, on such date, not being a date earlier than the appointed day, as may be specified in this behalf in the scheme and every scheme framed under this section shall have effect notwithstanding anything contained in any law (other than this Act) for the time being in force or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any enactment other than this Act. (4) The Central Government may make a scheme to add to, amend or vary any scheme framed under sub-section M. Section 11 - Rounding off Where the amount of any credit to be made in any Deposit Account contains a part of a rupee, then, such part, if it is fifty paise or more, shall be increased to one complete rupee and if it is less than fifty paise, it shall be ignored.

.....after the 1st day of April, 1986), at the rates specified in Paragraph D of the Schedule.]] (2) Where in the case of any person specified in Sub-section (2) of Section 3, a deduction is required to be made under the Additional Emoluments (Compulsory Deposit) Ordinance, 1974, the amount of the compulsory deposit which such person is liable to make under this Act for any assessment year shall be reduced by the amount deducted under that Ordinance during the financial year immediately preceding that assessment year; and where such deduction is equal to or exceeds the amount of such compulsory deposit, it shall not be necessary for such person to make a compulsory deposit for that assessment year. Explanation.-- When any Central Act repeals and replaces (with or without any modification) the Additional Emoluments (Compulsory Deposit) Ordinance, 1974, the references to the said Ordinance in this sub-section shall be construed as references to such Central Act. .....notification issued under Sub-section (3) shall have effect notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force (other than this Act) or any instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act. (6) Every scheme framed under Sub-section (1) and every notification issued under Sub-section (3) shall be laid, as soon as may be, after it is framed or issued before each House of Parliament while it is in session for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid both Houses agree in making any modification in the scheme or notification or both Houses agree that the scheme or notification should not be framed or issued, the scheme or notification shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that scheme or notification.

THE VOLUNTARY DEPOSITS (IMMUNITIES AND EXEMPTIONS) ACT, 1991 [Act, No. 47 of 1991] PREAMBLE An Act to provide for certain immunities to persons making voluntary deposits with the National Housing Bank and for certain exemptions from direct taxes in relation to such deposits and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. Whereas for effective economic and social planning it is necessary to canalise for certain social objectives black money which has become a serious threat to the national economy. And whereas with a view to such canalisation, the Central Government has decided to allow voluntary deposits being made with the National Housing Bank in accordance with a scheme to be formulated by that Bank whereunder forty per cent of the amount of such deposits will be credited to a special fund to be created for financing slum clearance and low cost housing for the poor and sixty per cent of the amount of such deposits can be utilised by the depositors for purposes specified by them. AND whereas it is expedient to provide for certain immunities and exemptions to render it possible for persons in possession of black money to make such deposits. Be it.....

Title: Appointment of Custodian and Assistant Custodians of Deposits

(1) The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint a custodian of Deposits and as many Assistant Custodians of Deposits as may be necessary for the purpose of discharging the duties imposed upon the Custodian and Assistant Custodians by or under this Act. (2) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the custodian and Assistant Custodians of Deposits shall discharge the duties imposed on them by or under this Act under the general superintendence and control of the Central Government, and the Central Government may, by general or special order provide for the distribution of work among them. (3) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Assistant Custodians of Deposits shall discharge the duties imposed on them by or under this Act under the general superintendence and control of the Custodian.
