Lighthouse Act, 1927 Complete Act

.....Government] may, by order in writing, require the local lighthouse authority to comply with the direction, or to make arrangements to the26[satisfaction of the Central Government] for the proper exercise of the power or performance of the duty, or to make financial provision to the 25[satisfaction of the Central Government] for the performance of the duty, as the case may be, within such period as 26[the Central Government] may specify. Title: Lighthouse (Amendment) Act, 1985

.....in the procedure of the Advisory Committee not affecting the merits of the case.". 5.Amendment of section 6.- In section 6 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the expressions "Chief Inspector of Lighthouses and "Superintendent or Inspector of Lighthouses", the expressions "Director-General of Lighthouses and Lightships" and "Director or Deputy Director-General of Lighthouses and Lightships" shall respectively be substituted. 6.Insertion of new section 8A.- After section 8 of the principal Act and before the heading" LIGHT-DUES", the following section shall be inserted, namely:-- 8A. Power of Central Government to prohibit lights and regulate heights of buildings, structures and trees.- (1) If the Central Government is of opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do for unobstructed functioning of any lighthouse, if may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that,- (i) no light shall be established without the prior permission of the Central Government in case of general lighthouse and without the prior permission of the local lighthouse authority in case of local lighthouse on any and within such radius, not exceeding one kilometre.....

Title: Power to Inspect Local Lighthouses

(1)1 [Director-Generalof Lighthouses and Lightships] may, at time, and any 2 [Directoror Deputy Director-General of Lighthouses and Lightships] may,if authorised in this behalf by a general or special order in writing of theCentral Government, enter upon and inspect any local lighthouse and make suchinquiries in respect thereof or of the management thereof as he thinks fit. (2)Every person having the charge of, or concerned in the management of, anylighthouse shall be bound to furnish to any officer authorised by or under sub-section(1) to inspect the lighthouse all such information regarding the same as theofficer may require. .....inconsistent with the scheme of Federation embodied in this Act: Provided that after the establishment of the Federation, if any Instrument has in fact been accepted by His Majesty, the validity of that Instrument or of any of its provisions shall not be called in question and the provisions of this Act shall, in relation to the State, have effect subject to the provisions of the Instrument.
