Title: Disqualification of Person as Servant of Board

.....with the permission of the2[Officer Commanding-in-Chief, the Command] in any lease or sale to, or purchase by, the1[Board] of land or buildings or in any agreement for the same. 3[(4) Every person applying for employment as a servant of a Board shall, if he is related by blood or marriage to any member of the Board or to any person, not being a [lower grade employee], in receipt of remuneration from the Board, notify the fact and the nature of such relationship to the appointing authority before the appointment is made, and if he has failed to do so, his appointment shall be invalid but without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done by him.] ________________________ 1. Title: Powers, Procedure, Penalties and Appeals

Cantonments Act, 1924 Chapter XIII

Title: Water-supply, Drainage and Lighting

.....building or land in the cantonment with any water for any purpose, other than a domestic purpose, on such terms and conditions, consistent with this Act and the rules and bye-laws made thereunder, as may be agreed upon between the 1 [Board] and such owner, lessee or occupier. Cantonments Act, 1924 Complete Act

.....administration of cantonments the spirit of the reformed scheme of Government, recommended a complete revision and an algamation of the Cantonments Act(Act 15 of 1910) and the Cantonment Code, 1912, in order to bring into conformity with ordinary municipal law the system under which military cantonments are administered. The recommendations of the committee have now been examined by the Government of India and the conclusions arrived at are embodied in the BiH. The main features of the Rill are as follows:- (a) It is proposed to lake power to municipalize the government of those cantonments which contain a substantial civil population having no essential connection with or dependence upon the military administration. In other cantonments where these circumstances do not fully exist the administration of contanment. Affairs will be vested in the hands of the commanding officer of the cantonment, who for the purpose of the Act, will be constituted a corporation sole. The general effect will be that the Government authority will cease to be the purely executive .agency as at present. In the larger cantonments the existing cantonment committee will be replaced by a cantonment Board.....

1[(1)] Where an appeal from an order made by the2[Board] has been disposed of by the District Magistrate,3[either party to the proceedings] may, wilhin thirty days from the date thereof, apply, through the4[Officer Commanding-in-Chief, the Command], to the5[Central Government], or to such authority as the60[Central Government] may appoint in this behalf, for a revision of the decision. 1[(2)] The provisions of this Chapter with respect to appeals shall apply, as far as may be, to applications for revision made under this section. ________________________ 1. Title: Board Not Liable for Failure of Supply

Notwithstanding any obligation imposed on 1 [Boards] under this Act, a 2 [Board] shall not be liable to any forfeiture, penalty or damages for failure to supply water or for curtailing the quantity thereof if the failure or curtailment, as the case may be, arises from accident or from drought or other unavoidable cause unless, in the case of an agreement for the supply of water under section 222, the 2 [Board] has made express provision for forfeiture, penalty or damages in the event of such failure or curtailment. ________________________ 1. Cantonments Act, 1924 Section 24

Title: Appointment of Executive Officer

.....Gazette, specify in this behalf. Explanation.--In this proviso, the word "officers" shall mean any of the supervisory staff of the Board as may be specified by the Board. (2) Not less than one-half of the cost of the salary of the Executive Officer shall be paid by the Central Government and the balance from the cantonment fund. (3) The Executive Officer shall be the Secretary of the Board and of every Committee of the Board and may participate in every meeting of the Board and of every Committee of the Board but, shall not be a member of the Board or of any such Committee. __________________________ 1.
