In one sentence
Download or print any judgment from its case page using Tools → Save as PDF or Print - no subscription required.
Before you start
Full judgment text is free to read online without login. PDF download and Print are available to all visitors from the judgment Tools drawer. Bonus features (favourites, notes, tags, annotations) require a logged-in account with an active subscription - see Free vs paid features.
Steps
- Find a judgment through Cases search, Advanced Search, Citation Search, or Latest Cases.
- Click the case title to open the full judgment page.
- Click Tools near the top of the page (below the breadcrumbs).
- In the drawer, under Export, click Save as PDF - the browser downloads a PDF with case name, metadata, and full judgment text.
- Alternatively, click Print to open your browser's print dialog; choose Save as PDF as the destination if you want a local copy without using the PDF button.
- Open the downloaded file from your browser's downloads folder.
What you'll see
The PDF includes a SooperKanoon header, case title, court and decision date, reported citations, bench details, and the complete judgment body in a readable serif layout. Generation may take a few seconds for very long judgments - wait for the download to complete before clicking again.
Common mistakes
- Looking for download on search results pages - open the full judgment first; PDF is inside Tools on the case detail page only.
- Clicking Save as PDF multiple times while a large judgment is generating - this can start duplicate downloads; wait for the first file to finish.
- Expecting your personal notes or highlights inside the PDF - notes, tags, and annotations are separate bonus features and are not embedded in the standard download.
Tips
- Use Print when you need to select specific sections or adjust margins before saving.
- Combine PDF download with AI Studio on the same judgment for a structured brief before filing the full text.
- For acts, bare-act pages also offer PDF download from the act toolbar - see Bare Acts for statute downloads.
