After searching cases on SooperKanoon, use the sticky Court filter on the left to show only judgments from the Supreme Court, a High Court, or a tribunal.
Before you start
Free - no login required. Court filtering works on your case search results after you submit a keyword search from the homepage or Cases. You can also set the court before searching using Advanced Search, but the sidebar filter is the quickest way to refine existing results.
Steps
- Go to Cases Search or search from the homepage (which posts to
/cases/router1). - Enter your keywords and submit - wait for results to load.
- Look at the left sidebar for filter groups. Find the Court section - it stays visible as you scroll.
- Browse the court list - it shows courts that appear in your current results (e.g. Supreme Court of India, Karnataka, Delhi).
- Click the court you want - the page reloads with only that court's judgments.
- Notice the active filter chip or tag near the top showing Court: [name] with a remove (×) link.
- To add another court, click a second court name - multiple courts can be selected.
- To remove a court filter, click the × on the filter chip or click the active court name again in the sidebar.
What you'll see
The results list updates to show only judgments from the selected court(s). The result count drops accordingly. Active filters appear as removable chips above the results. The Court sidebar marks selected courts as active/highlighted. Other filters like Year remain available alongside Court. On mobile, open filters with the Filters button.
Common mistakes
- Looking for court filters before running a search - filters populate based on your result set, so search first.
- Expecting every court in India to always appear - only courts present in your current results are listed.
- Confusing this sidebar filter with Advanced Search - both work, but the sidebar is for quick refinement after a keyword search.

- Researching Supreme Court law? Filter to Supreme Court of India first, then read the leading cases.
- Combine Court and Year filters to see how a High Court's view changed over time on your topic.
- For tribunal cases (ITAT, NCDRC, etc.), run a topic search and look for tribunal names in the Court filter list.
