Before you start
Notes are a bonus feature - not included in free search. You need a logged-in account with an active, non-expired subscription and Custom Notes (or an all-features plan such as AI Preview, AI Scholar, or AI Chambers) activated. Check activation at Dashboard → Profile → Value Added Services/features activated. See Free vs paid features for plan details.
Steps
- Log in to SooperKanoon.
- Confirm Notes appears in your activated features on Dashboard → Profile.
- Open any judgment from Cases search, Advanced Search, or a direct case URL.
- Click Tools near the top of the page.
- Under Organize, click Add note (pencil icon).
- A note modal opens - type your research notes (rich text editing is available in the modal).
- Save the note.
- Repeat on other judgments as needed - each case keeps its own note.
- View usage counts on Dashboard → Home tab under Notes.
What you'll see
When Notes is activated, Add note opens an in-page modal without leaving the judgment. If Notes is not activated, the link redirects to /notes/ with upgrade information. The Dashboard Home tab shows your total note count alongside Favorites and Tags stats.
Common mistakes
- Clicking Add note while logged out - you must sign in; notes are tied to your account.
- Expecting notes on the free tier - notes require a paid or AI Preview subscription with the feature activated.
- Assuming notes appear in PDF downloads - downloaded judgments do not include your private notes.
Tips
- Use notes for procedural postures, client-specific reminders, or links to related cases - keep party-confidential details secure.
- Pair notes with Favourite (inside Tools) to mark cases you have annotated heavily.
- If Notes is missing after signup on AI Copilot/AI Associate, verify you selected Custom Notes at checkout or add it at Manage Billing → Add features.
