Definition

Human rights, means the rights relating to life, liberty, equality and dignity of the individual guaranteed by the Constitution or embodied in the International Covenants and enforceable by courts in India. [Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (10 of 1994), s. 2 (1) (d)]

The freedoms, immunities and benefits that accor-ding to modern values (esp. at an international level, all human beings should be able to claim as a matter of right in society in which they live, Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edn.
