Definition :
Anchor. The (English) Anchors and Chain Cables Act, 1899 (62 & 63 Vict. c. 23), consolidating, with small amendments, three Acts of 1864, 1871 and 1874, provides that unproved anchors are not to be sold or bought for a British ship, and regulates the made of testing by testing establishments licensed by the Board of Trade.
