Vibhaktarahave, the Marathi word 'Vibhakta-rahave' is a compound of two words, namely, 'Vibhakta' and 'Rahave' . 'Vibhakta' appears to have its root in the Sanskrit word 'Vibhaga'. 'In the Mitakshra, Vijnaesvara defines the word 'Vibhaga' which is usually rendered into English by the word 'partition' as the adjustment of diverse rights regarding the whole, by distributing them in particular portions of the aggregate', See para 448 of Mayne's Hindu Law, 11th Edition; Krishnabai Ganpatrao Deshmukh v. Appasahab Tuejiram Rao Nimbalkar, (1979) 4 SCC 60: AIR 1979 SC 1880 (1886).
