Definition :
Tampering, means an Interference with a thing to misuse it or pervert it or alter it with some design clandestinely. It is the circumstances and the purpose or rather the manner in which the alteration is effected which will make the alteration 'tampering' with the real thing, Sadra Prasad v. Shambhu Narain, 1958 All LJ 491.
Means the act or an instance of engaging in improper or under handed dealings, especially an attempt to influence; tampering an offence is criminal offence, Black's Law Dictionary, 7th Edn., p. 1468
