Definition :

Panchayat, or panchayat circle shall have the meaning assigned to it by the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 (Act No. 13 of 1994). [Rajasthan Land Revenue Act, 2003, s. 3(d)]

Means a Gram Panchayat and a Zila Parishad con-stituted under the provision of this Act. [Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 (26 of 1994), s. 2(k)]

Means an institution (by whatever name called) of self-government constituted under Article 243B, for the rural areas. [Constitution of India, Article 243(d)]
