ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to sanction and disburse interest at 12 percent per annum on the delayed payment of EPF, EGF and Leave surrender for the period from 31.03.2024 till August 2025.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the service of the
respondent Corporation and had retired from service on 31.03.2024. However, the EPF, EGF and Leave surrender for the period from 31.03.2024 till August 2025 were settled only after 17 months. Therefore, the petitioner claimed 12% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits and he has also made a representation on 02.02.2026 to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which has not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
3. Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
4. In view of the limited request made by the petitioner with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the Page2 of 4
respondent to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra, from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioner, if there is no impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.
5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order
as to costs. Index: Yes/No
