Amending Act 1 - MARRIAGE LAWS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001 THE MARRIAGE LAWS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001 [Act, No. 49 of 2001] [24th September, 2001] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Indian Divorce Act, 1869, the Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act, 1936, the Special Marriage Act, 1954 and the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows: -- CHAPTER I: PRELIMINARY 1. Short title - This Act may be called the Marriage Laws (Amendment) Act, 2001. CHAPTER II : AMENDMENTS FO THE INDIAN DIVORCE ACT, 1869 2. Amendment of Section 36 - In section 36 of the Indian Divorce Act, 1869 (4 of 1869) (hereafter in this Chapter referred to as the Divorce Act), -- (a) For the words "the wife may present a petition for alimony pending the suit", the words "the wife may present a petition for expenses of the proceedings and alimony pending the suit" shall be substituted; (b) For the words "for payment to the wife of alimony pending the suit", the words "for payment to the wife of the expenses of the proceedings nd alimony pending the suit" shall be.....

Bombay Government Premises (Eviction) Act, 1955, (Maharashtra) Section 6

Title: Rent to Be Recovered by Deduction from Salary or Wages of Employee

On receipt of such requisition, the head of the Government department or office under whom such person is employed, or, as the case may be, the local authority shall deduct from the salary or wages payable to such person the amount specified in the requisition, and pay the amount so deducted to the competent authority in satisfaction of the amount due as aforesaid. (2) An employee of a local authority who is allotted Government premises may execute an agreement in s of the State government providing that the local authority by or under whom he is employed shall be competent to deduct from time to time from the salary or wages payable to him, such amount as is specified in the agreement, and to pay the amount so deducted to the competent authority in satisfaction of any amounts due by him in respect of any Government premises allotted to him. _______________________ 1. Working Journalists and Other Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1955 Section 6

(1) Subject to any rules that may be made under this Act, no working journalist shall be required or allowed to work in any newspaper establishment for more than one hundred and forty-four hours during any period of four consecutive weeks, exclusive of the time for meals. (2) Every working journalist shall be allowed during any period of seven consecutive days rest for a period of not less than twenty-four consecutive hours, the period between 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. being included therein. Explanation.--For the purposes of this section, "week" means a period of seven days beginning at mid-night on Saturday.

Citizenship Act, 1955 Section 6

Title: Citizenship by Naturalization

(1) Where an application is made in the prescribed manner by any person of full age and capacity 1[ not being an illegal migrant] for the grant of a certificate of naturalisation to him, the Central Government may, if satisfied that the applicant is qualified for naturalisation under the provisions of the Third Schedule, grant to him a certificate of naturalisation: Provided that, if in the opinion of the Central Government, the applicant is a person who has rendered distinguished service to the cause of science, philosophy, art, literature, world peace or human progress generally, it may waive all or any of the conditions specified in Third Schedule. (2) The person to whom a certificate of naturalisation is granted under sub-section (1) shall, on taking the oath of allegiance in the form specified in the Second Schedule, be a citizen of India by naturalisation as from the date on which that certificate is granted. ______________________ 1.Substituted by Citizenship Amdt Act, 2003 (6 of 2004) for the words "who is not a citizen of a country specified in the First Schedule".

Prisoners (Attendance in Courts) Act, 1955 Section 6

Title: Officer in Charge of Prison when to Abstain from Carrying out Order

Where the person in respect of whom an order is made under section 3-- (a) is, in accordance with the rules made in this behalf, declared to be unfit to be removed from the prison where he is confined by reason of sickness or other infirmity; or (b) is under committal for trial; or (c) is under remand pending trial or pending a preliminary investigalion; or (d) is in custody for a period which would expire before the expiration of the time required for removing him under this Act and for taking him back to the prison in which he is confined, the officer in charge of the prison shall abstain from carrying out the order and shall send to the court from which the order had been issued a statement of reasons for so abstaining: Provided that such officer as aforesaid shall not so obstain where-- (i) the order has been made by a criminal court; and (ii) the person named in the order is confined under committal for trial or under remand pending trial or pending a preliminary investigation and is not declared in accordance with the rules made in this behalf to be unfit to be removed from the prison where he is confined by reason of sickness or other infirmity; and .....
