.....in the District shall, during the period it is adjourned for2[any] vacation, be deemed to be closed for the purposes of section 4 of the Limitation Act, 1963 (Central Act 36 of 1963). (7) On the reopening of the District Court, a4[Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division)] or a4[Court of a Civil Judge (Junior Division)] after2[any] vacation, all suits, appeals and 17 other proceedings pending in the Court of the Vacation District Judge or Vacation4[Civil Judge (Senior Division)] which, but for this section, would have been instituted or pending in such District Court,4[Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division)] or4[Court of a Civil Judge (Junior Division)], as the case may be, shall stand transferred to such District Court,4[Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) ]or4[Court of Civil Judge (Junior Division)], and any decree, order or proceeding passed by the Vacation District Judge or the Vacation4[Civil Judge (Senior Division)] shall, after such transfer, be deemed to be a decree, order or proceeding passed by the Court concerned. Title: Combining Leave with Vacation

A Judge may be permitted to combine vacation on full salary with leave, if-- (a) where the vacation consists of one continuous period, the leave is taken either at the commencement or at the end of the vacation but not at both; (b) where the vacation is divided into two separate periods, the leave is taken for the interval, or part of the interval, between the two periods of that vacation, or for the interval, or part of the interval, between the second period of that vacation and the commencement of the next ensuing vacation : Provided that no such permission to combine vacation with leave shall be granted if it becomes necessary to appoint an acting Chief Justice during the period of vacation or if the Judge is not expected to return to duty at the end of such leave.

High Court Act, 1961 Section 12

Title: Vacation Judge

(1) For the hearing of all matters, which require to be immediately or promptly dealt with during a vacation or adjournment of the High Court, the Chief Justice shall nominate a Judge of the High Court as vacation Judge, and such Judge shall during the vacation, exercise all the jurisdiction vested in the High Court, except in cases in which such jurisdiction must be exercised, under the provision of any law for the time being in force, by more than one Judge. Different single Judges may be appointed for different periods of a vacation or adjournment. (2) It shall be competent for the Chief Justice during any vacation or adjournment of the High Court to constitute a Bench of Judges or a Full Bench for the hearing of any case.

(1) The Administrator shall, immediately on redemption of all the schemes of the specified undertaking and the payment of entire amount to investors, shall vacate his office; but nothing in this sub-section shall be construed as prohibiting his appointment as a member of the Board of Advisers after vacation of his office as such. (2) On the vacation of his office, the Administrator shall forthwith deliver, to the Central Government or any institution or officer specified by it, possession of all assets and properties representing and relatable to the specified undertaking which are in his possession, custody and control on the date immediately preceding the date on which he vacates his office as the Administrator.

Title: Consequences of Overstaying Leave or Vacation

State: Central

Year: 1958

(1) If a Judge overstays his leave or any vacation, whether combined with leave or not, he shall receive no salary in respect of the period of his absence in excess of the leave granted to him or beyond the end of the vacation, as the case may be : Provided that, if such absence is due to circumstances beyond his control, the period thereof may be treated as leave and may be debited to his leave account. (2) Nothing in this Act shall be construed as requiring a Judge to rejoin on the expiration of the period of leave when that period expires immediately before the commencement of a vacation, nor as authorising any acting Chief Justice to continue to hold the acting appointment during the vacation.

Title: Power to Order Building to Be Vacated in Certain Circumstances

Year: 1994

(1) The Chairperson may by order in writing direct mat any building which in his opinion is in a dangerous condition or is not provided with sufficient means of egress in case of fire or is occupied in contravention of section 251 be vacated forthwith or within such period as may be specified in the order. Provided that at the time of making such order the Chairperson shall record a brief statement of the reasons therefor. (2) If any person fails to vacate the building in pursuance of such order the Chairperson may direct any police officer to remove such person from the building and the police officer shall comply with such direction accordingly. (3) The Chairperson shall, on the application of any person who has vacated, or been removed from any building in pursuance of an order made by him, re-instate such person in the building on the expiry of the period for which the order has been in force according as the circumstances prevailing at that time permit.

Karnataka Police Act, 1963 Section 30

Title: Occupation of and Liability to Vacate Premises Provided for Police Officers

State: Karnataka

Year: 1963

(1) Any Police Officer occupying any premises provided by the Government for his residence,-- (a) shall occupy the same subject to such conditions and terms as may, generally or in special cases, be specified by the Government, and (b) shall, notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force, vacate the same on his ceasing to be a Police Officer, or whenever the Government in this behalf thinks it necessary and expedient to require him to do so. (2) If any person who is bound or required under sub-section (1), to vacate any premises fails to do so, the Government or any officer authorised by it in this behalf may order such person to vacate the premises and may direct any Police Officer with such assistance as may be necessary to enter upon the premises and remove therefrom any person found therein and to take possession of the premises and deliver the same to any person specified in the direction.
