.....of the first publication of the work], or if a translation hasbeen so published, it has been out of print; (b) the applicant has proved tothe satisfaction of the Copyright Board that he had requested and had beendenied authorisation by the owner of the copyright to produce and publish suchtranslation, or that 6 [he was, after duediligence on his part, unable to find] the owner of the copyright; (c) where the applicant wasunable to find the owner of the copyright, he has sent a copy of his requestfor 7 [such authorisation by registered air mailpost to the publisher whose name appears from the work, and in the case of anapplication for a licence under sub-section (1)], not less than two monthsbefore 8 [such application]; 9 [(cc) aperiod of six months in the case of an application under sub-section (1A) (notbeing an application under the proviso thereto), or nine months in the case ofan application under the proviso to that sub-section, has elapsed from the dateof making the request under clause (b) of this proviso or where a copy of therequest has been sent under clause (c) of this proviso, from the date ofsending of such copy, and the translation of the work in the language.....

Title: In What Cases Translation of Will to Be Annexed to Petition. Verification of Translation by Person Other Than Court Translator

In cases wherein the Will, copy or draft, is written in any language other than English or than that inordinary use in proceedings before the Court, there shall be a translation thereof annexed to the petition by a translator of the Court, if the language be one for which a translator is appointed; or, if the Will, copy or draft, is in any other language, then by any person competent to translate the same, in which case such translation shall be verified by that person in the following manner, namely: "I (A.B.) do declare that I read and perfectly understand the language and character of the original, and that the above is a true and accurate translation thereof."

THE AUTHORISED TRANSLATIONS (CENTRAL LAWS) AMENDMENT ACT, 1988 [Act, No.18 of 1988] [31st March, 1964.] An Act to amend the Authorised Translations (Central Laws) Act, 1973. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: -- 1. Short title. This Act may be called the Authorised Translations (Central Laws) Amendment Act, 1988. 2. Amendment of long title. In the Authorised Translations (Central Laws) Act, 1973 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act,) in the long title, for the words "authorised translations", the words "authoritative texts" shall be substituted. 3. Amendment of section 1. In section 1 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the words "Authorised Translations", the words "Authoritative Texts" shall be substituted. 4. Amendment of section 2. In section 2 of the principal Act, for the words "authorised translation", the words "authoritative text" shall be substituted.

Title: Authorised Hindi Translation of State Acts in Certain Cases

Where the Legislature of a State has prescribed any language other than Hindi for use in Acts passed by the Legislature of the State or in Ordinances pronulgated by the Governor of the State, a translation of the same in Hindi, in addition to a translation thereof in the English language as required by clause (3) of Art. 348 of the Constitution, may be published on or after the appointed day under the authority of the Governor of the State in the Official Gazette of that State and in such a case, the translation in Hindi of any such Act or Ordinance shall be deemed to be the authoritative text thereof in the Hindi language.

(1) A translation in Hindi published under the authority of the President in the Official Gazette on and after the appointed day,-- (a) of any Central Act or of any Ordinance promulgated by the President, or (b) of any order, regulation or bye-law issued under the Constitution or under any Central Act, shall be deemed to be the authoritative text thereof in Hindi. (2) As from the appointed day1 the authoritative text in the English language of all Bills to be introduced or amendments thereto be moved in either House of Parliament shall be accompanied by a translation of the same in Hindi authorised in such manner as may be prescribed by rules made under this Act. ____________________________ 1.
