Section 10 - Leaving vehicle or animal unattended No person in charge of a vehicle or animal shall allow such vehicle or animal to stand or proceed on a highway or public place unless it is under adequate control. Title: Traffic Signs

.....sign shall, after the commencement of this Act, be placed or erected on or near any highway, but all traffic signs erected prior to the commencement of this Act by any authority competent to do so shall for the purposes of this Act be deemed to be traffic signs under the provisions of sub-section (1). (4) Any authority authorised in this behalf by notification by the State Government may remove or cause to be removed any sign or advertisement which is so placed in his opinion as to obscure any traffic sign from view or any sign or advertisement which is in his opinion so similar in appearance to a traffic sign as to be misleading. (5) No person shall wilfully remove, alter, deface, or in any way tamper with any traffic sign placed or erected under this section. (6) If any person accidentally causes such damage to a traffic sign as renders it useless for the purpose for which it is placed and erected under this section, he shall report the circumstances of the occurrence at the nearest police station, as soon as possible, and in any case within twenty-four hours of the occurrence.

Section 37 - Prohibition to leave vehicles or animals in dangerous position (1) No person in charge of, or in possession of, any vehicle or animal shall allow such vehicle or animal to stand or proceed on a Highway unless the same is under such safety control as may be prescribed. (2) Where, in contravention of sub-section (1), any obstruction on the Highway is caused, the vehicle or animal causing such obstruction shall be caused to be towed away by the Highway Administration to remove such obstruction on the Highway and the vehicle or animal so towed away shall be taken into possession by the Highway Administration and shall be handed over to the owner thereof in the manner, by payment to the Highway Administration, the expenses incurred in such removal, as may be prescribed. Title: Duty to Obey Traffic Signs

(1) Every driver of a vehicle or animal shall drive it in conformity with any indication given by a mandatory traffic sign and in conformity with the driving regulations set forth in the Second Schedule and shall comply with all directions given to him by any police officer for the time being engaged in the regulation of traffic in any public place. (2) In this section mandatory traffic sign means a traffic sign included in Part A of the First Schedule or any traffic sign of similar form (that is to say consisting of or including a circular disc) displaying a device, word or figure and having a red ground or border or any prescribed sign painted or marked on the road or erected or displayed for the purpose of regulating traffic other than motor vehicle traffic under sub-section (1) of section 4.

THE PREVENTION OF ILLICIT TRAFFIC IN NARCOTIC DRUGS AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES ACT, 1988 [Act, No. 46 of 1988] [6th September, 1988] PREAMBLE An Act to provide for detention in certain cases for the purpose of preventing illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and for matters connected therewith. WHEREAS illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances poses a serious threat to the health and welfare of the people and the activities of persons engaged in such illicit traffic have a deleterious effect on the national economy; AND WHEREAS having regard to the persons by whom and the manner in which such activities are organised and carried on, and having regard to the fact that in certain areas which are highly vulnerable to the illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, such activities of a considerable magnitude are clandestinely organised and carried on, it is necessary for the effective prevention of such activities to provide for detention of persons concerned in any manner therewith. BE it enacted by Parliament, in the Thirty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:--

Title: Highway Administration to Regulate Traffic when Highway Deemed Unsafe

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, the Highway Administration shall have the power to regulate and control the plying of vehicles on the Highway for the proper management thereof. (2) If at any time the Highway Administration is satisfied on the information received by it or otherwise that any Highway within its jurisdiction or any part thereof is or has become congested or unsafe for vehicular or pedestrian traffic by reason of damage or otherwise, it may, either close the Highway or such part thereof to all traffic or to any class of traffic, or regulate the number and speed of vehicles to be used on the Highway or such part thereof, as the case may be, in the manner as it may deem fit.
