Title: Central Government to Take Measures for Preventing and Combating Abuse of and Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs, Etc.

.....for the purpose of securing the effective implementation of the provisions of this Act and preventing and combating the abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and illicit traffic therein. (3) The Central Government may, if it considers it necessary or expedient so to do for the purposes of this Act, by order, published in the Official Gazette, constitute an authority or a hierarchy of authorities by such name or names as may be specified in the order for the purpose of exercising such of the powers and functions of the Central Government under this Act and for taking measures with respect to such of the matters referred to in sub-section (2) as may be mentioned in the order, and subject to the supervision and control of the Central Government and the provisions of such order, such authority or authorities may exercise the powers and take the measures so mentioned in the order as if such authority or authorities had been empowered by this Act to exercise those powers and take such measures.

Punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders Whoever indulges in financing, directly or indirectly, any of the activities specified in sub-clauses (i) to (v) of clause (viiia) of section 2 or harbours any person engaged in any of the aforementioned activities, shall be punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than ten years but which may extend to twenty years and shall also be liable to fine which shall not be less than one lakh rupees but which may extend to two lakh rupees: Provided that the court may, for reasons to be recorded in the judgment, impose a fine exceeding two lakh rupees]. ______________________ 1. .....convention, relating to narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances which may be ratified or acceded to by India after the commencement of this Act. (THE NAGALAND ACT NO 1 OF 1989) Received the assent of the President of India on 16/03/89 and published in the Nagaland Gazette extraordinary dated 18th March '89. An Act to provide for the better regulation of marketing of agricultural produce and establishment and proper administration of markets for agricultural produce and matters connected therewith in the State of Nagaland. Whereas sanction of the President of India under the proviso to clause (b) of Article 304 of the Constitution of India has been obtained. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows: -- 1.Short title and commencement - (1) This Act may be called the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act, 2001. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act, and any reference in any provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision. 2.
