.....in writing, suspend a licence for a period of not more than one week for any reason for which a market committee may suspend a licence under sub-section(1). (3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), but subject to the provisions of sub-section (4), the3[Director of Agricultural Marketing] may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, by order suspend or cancel any licence granted or renewed under this Chapter: Provided that no order under this sub-section shall be made without notice to the market committee. (4) No licence shall be suspended or cancelled under this section, unless the holder thereof has been given a reasonable opportunity to show cause against such suspension or cancellation. _______________ 1. .....sentenced, it is presented through the officer in charge of the jail; or (b) where such petition is made by any other person, it contains a declaration that the person sentenced is in jail. (6) The provisions of the above sub-sections shall also apply to any order passed by a Criminal Court under any section of this Code or of any other law which restricts the liberty of any person or imposes any liability upon him or his properly. (7) In this section and in section 433, the expression "appropriate Government" means, (a) in cases where the sentence is for an offence against, or the order referred to in sub-section (6) is passed under, any law relating to a matter to which the executive power of the Union extends, the Central Government; (b) in other cases the Government of the State within which the offender is sentenced or the said order is passed.

Title: Power to Cancel or Suspend Licences

.....combination with other holders of licences commits any act or abstains from carrying out his normal business in the market with the intention of wilfully obstructing, suspending or stopping the marketing of agricultural produce in the market area; (d) if the holder of the licence has been adjudged an insolvent, and has not obtained his discharge; or (e) if the holder of the licence is convicted of any offence under this Act. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) but subject to the provisions of sub-section (3), the Director may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, by order, suspend or cancel any licence granted or renewed under this Chapter. .....to a breach of peace, he may by order suspend the execution or prohibit the doing thereof. (1) The licensing authority may, after giving the holder of any licence under this Act a reasonable opportunity of being heard, cancel or suspend the licence on any one or more of the following grounds, namely : (a) that there has been a breach of any of the conditions subject to which the licence was granted; (b) that the holder of the licence has contravened any of the provisions of section 7. (2) Whenever a licence is cancelled or suspended the licensing authority shall record a brief statement of the reasons for such cancellation or suspension and furnish a copy thereof to the person whose licence has been cancelled or suspended.

Title: Power of Commission to Suspend Member of Recognised Association or to Prohibit Him from Trading

.....for the time being in force or in the rules or bye-laws of a recognised association, the Commission may, alter giving an opportunity of being heard, by order suspend his membership of any association or prohibit him from entering into any such contract. (2) An order under sub-section (1) shall specify the period for which the suspension or prohibition is to have effect and such period may be extended from time to time but so as not to exceed three years in the aggregate. Constitution of India Article 72

Title: Power of President to Grant Pardons, Etc., and to Suspend, Remit or Commute Sentences in Certain Cases

(1) The President shall have the power to grant pardons, reprieves, respites or remissions of punishment or to suspend, remit or commute the sentence of any person convicted of any offence-- (a) in all cases where the punishment or sentence is by a Court Martial; (b) in all cases where the punishment or sentence is for an offence against any law relating to a matter to which the executive power of the Union extends; (c) in all cases where the sentence is a sentence of death. (2) Noting in sub-clause (a) of clause (1) shall affect the power conferred by law on any officer of the Armed forces of the Union to suspend, remit or commute a sentence by a court martial. (3) Nothing in sub-clause (c) of clause (1) shall affect the power to suspend, remit or commute a sentence of death exercisable by the Governor1[***] of a State under any law for the time being in force. ________________________ 1. Title: Power to Suspend or Cancel Licence, Etc.

.....or any person acting with his express or implied permission on his behalf, is convicted of an offence under this Act, or if the holder thereof is convicted of an offence, under the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949, or under the Dangerous Drugs Act. 1930, or the Drugs Act, 1940. (2) If the licence, permit or pass is suspended or cancelled for any reason, the holder thereof shall not be entitled to any compensation for such suspension or cancellation, or to the refund of any fee paid in respect thereof. (3) The Collector may refuse to grant a licence, permit or pass to any person if - (a) a licence, permit or pass granted to such person under this Act has been previously suspended or cancelled, or (b) such person has been convicted of any offence punishable under this Act. or the Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949 or under the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1930. or the Drugs Act, 1940. (4) The Collector may also refuse to grant a licence, permit or pass to any firm of which the person referred to in subsection (3) is a partner, or to any person to whom the business of such person has been transferred.

Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 378

Title: Delivery of Indian Certificate Cancelled or Suspended

State: Central

Year: 1958

A master or ship's officer who is the holder of a certificate issued under this Act shall, if such certificate has been cancelled or suspended by the Central Government or by a court or suspended by a Marine Board, deliver his certificate to the Central Government, court or Marine Board on demand or if it is not so demanded by the Central Government or court or Board, to the Director-General.
