.....the West Bengal Medical Council constituted under the Act; (d) other words and expressions have the meanings respectively assigned to them in the Act. Section 3 Supersession of the Council (1) With effect from the date of coming into force of this Act, and for a period of two years from such date, the Council shall stand superseded. (2) The State Government may, if it considers necessary so to do, by notification published in the Official Gazette, extend from time to time the period of supersession referred to in sub-section (1) by any period not exceeding six months at a time, so, however, that the aggregate period of supersession under this section shall not exceed three years. 11.
