.....as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act. Section 2 Definitions In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context, (1) "affiliated" in relation to a college or an institution means affiliated to the University of Kalyani as constituted prior to the appointed day and continuing as such immediately before such day or affiliated to the University under this Act; (2) "appointed day" means the date referred to in sub-section (5) of section 55; (3) "college" means a college established or maintained by, or affiliated to, the University; (4) "convocation" means a meeting of the Court for the purpose of conferring degrees, titles, diplomas, certificates or other academic distinctions; 11. Provided that, if in any professional subject no honours courses of study have been prescribed, a professional college may be a constituent college although no instruction is provided in that college for honours courses of study in that subject; (4) "convocation" means a meeting of the Court for the purpose of conferring degrees, titles, diplomas, certificates or other academic.....

ESSENTIAL COMMODITIES (SPECIAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 1981 [Act, No. 18 of 1981] PREAMBLE An Act to make certain special provisions by way of amendments to the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, for a temporary period for dealing more effectively with persons indulging in hoarding and black marketing of,-and profiteering in, essential commodities and with the evil of vicious inflationary prices and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. Whereas for ensuring the availability of essential commodities at fair prices, it is necessary to curb the hoarding and black marketing of, and profiteering in, such commodities; And whereas for dealing more effectively with persons indulging in such antisocial activities and the evil of vicious inflationary prices, it is necessary to make certain special provisions by way of amendments to the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955), for a period of1[fifteen] years; Be it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- ________________________ 1. Substituted for "ten" by the Essential Commodities (Special Provisions) Amendment Act, 1993, w.r.e.f. 27.08.1992.

THE SPECIAL BEARER BONDS (IMMUNITIES AND EXEMPTIONS) ACT, 1981 [Act, No. 7 of 1981] PREAMBLE An Act to provide for certain immunities to holders of Special Bearer Bonds, 1991 and for certain exemptions from direct taxes in relation to such bonds and for matters connected therewith WHEREAS for effective economic and social planning it is necessary to canalize for productive purposes black money which has become a serious threat to the national economy; AND WHEREAS with a view to such canalisation the Central Government has decided to issue at par certain bearer bonds to be known as the Special Bearer Bonds, 1991, of the face value of ten thousand rupees and redemption value, after ten years, of twelve thousand rupees; AND WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for certain immunities and exemptions to render it possible for persons in possession of black money to invest thesame in the said Bonds; BE it enacted by Parliament in the Thirty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:

.....just and proper so to do for any other special reason to be recorded in writing; (e) a Special Court may, upon a perusal of police report of the facts constituting an offence under this Act take cognizance of that offence without the accused being committed to it for trial; (f) all offences under this Act shall be tried in a summary way and the provisions of sections 262 to 265 (both inclusive) of the Code shall, as far as may be, apply to such trial : Provided that in the case of any conviction in a summary trial under this section, it shall be lawful for the Special Court to pass a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years. (2) When trying an offence under this Act, a Special Court may also try an offence other than an offence under this Act, with which the accused may, under the Code, be charged at the same trial: Provided that such other offence is, under any other law for the time being in force, triable in a summary way: Provided further that in the case of any conviction for such other offence in such trial, it shall not be lawful for the Special Court to pass a sentence of imprisonment for a term exceeding the term provided for conviction.....
