Section 2 Definitions In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context, (1) "affiliated" in relation to a college or an institution means affiliated to the University of Burdwan as constituted prior to (2) "appointed day" means the date referred to in sub-section (5) of section 57; (3) "constituent college" means an affiliated college in which instruc- tion is provided, under prescribed conditions, for honours as well as for post-graduate courses of study, and which is declared as such by the University: Provided that, if in any professional subject no honours course of study have been prescribed, a professional college may be a constituent college although no instruction is provided in that college for honours courses of study in that subject; (4) "convocation" means a meeting of the Court for the purpose of conferring degrees, titles, diplomas, certificates or other academic distinctions; (5) "district" means any of the districts of Bankura, Birbhum, Burdwan, Hooghly and Purulia or any district.....

Special Bearer Bonds (Immunities and Exemptions) Act, 1981 Complete Act

.....against any such person under any law on the ground that such person has subscribed to, or has otherwise acquired, the bonds. It makes the fact of subscription to, or acquisition of the bonds inadmissible in evidence in any proceedings relating to any offence or imposition of any penalty under any such law. These immunities have been made subject to an exception in relation to prosecution for certain offences relating to property or prevention of corruption. The ordinance also provides that the acquisition of the bonds shall not be taken into account for the purpose of any proceedings under the Income-tax Act, 1961,the Wealth-tax Act, 1957andthe Gift-tax Act, 1958. The bonds themselves have been exempted from Wealth-tax. The premium payable on the redemption of the bonds has been exempted from income-tax. It has also been provided that transfer of the bonds will not attract any liability to capital gains tax or gift-tax. 3.
