Title: Power of Requisition of Resources, Provisions, Vehicles, Etc., for Rescue Operations, Etc.

.....in writing, requisition such resources or premises or such vehicle, as the case may be, and may make such further orders as may appear to it to be necessary or expedient in connection with the requisitioning. (2) Whenever any resource, premises or vehicle is requisitioned under sub-section (1), the period of such requisition shall not extend beyond the period for which such resource, premises or vehicle is required for any of the purposes mentioned in that sub-section. (3) In this section,-- (a) "resources" includes men and material resources; (b) "services" includes facilities; (c) "premises" means any land, building or part of a building and includes a hut, shed or other structure or any part thereof; (d) "vehicle" means any vehicle used or capable of being used for the purpose of transport, whether propelled by mechanical power or otherwise.

Title: Amendment of Section 28e

In section 28E of the Customs Act, 1962(52 of 1962) (hereinafter referred to as the Customs Act),-- (a) for clause (c), the following clause shall be substituted, namely:-- '(c) "applicant" means-- (i) (a) a non-resident setting up a joint venture in India in collaboration with a non-resident or a resident; or (b) a resident setting up a joint venture in India in collaboration with a non-resident; or (c) a wholly owned subsidiary Indian company, of which the holding company is a foreign company, who or which, as the case may be, proposes to undertake any business activity in India; (ii) a joint venture in India; or (iii) a resident falling within any such class or category of persons, as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf, and which or who, as the case may be, makes application for advance ruling under sub-section (1) of section 28H;'; (b) in clause (e), for the words "Authority for Advance Rulings", the words and brackets "Authority for Advance Rulings (Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax)" shall be substituted.

Title: Powers of the University

.....welfare; (xxiii) to lay down conditions of service of all categories of employees, including their code of conduct; (xxiv) to regulate and enforce discipline among the students and the employees, and to take such disciplinary measures in this regard as may be deemed by the University to be necessary; (xxv) to make arrangements for promoting the health and general welfare of the employees; (xxvi) to receive benefactions, donations and gifts and to acquire, hold, manage and dispose of any property, movable or immovable, including trust and endowment properties for the purposes of the University; (xxvii) to borrow, with the approval of the Central Government, on the security of the property of the University, money for the purposes of the University; (xxviii) to do all such other acts and things as may be necessary, incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of its objects.

Title: Objects of the University

The objects of the University shall be to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to make provisions for integrated courses in humanities, natural and physical sciences, social sciences, forestry and other allied disciplines in the educational programmes of the University; to take appropriate measures for promoting innovations in teaching-learning process, inter-disciplinary studies and research; to educate and train manpower for the development of the State of Manipur; and to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of that State, their intellectual, academic and cultural development.

Title: Establishment of the University

(1) The Manipur University in the State of Manipur, established under the Manipur University Act, 1980(Manipur Act 8 of 1980), shall be established as a body corporate under this Act by the same name of "Manipur University". (2) The first Chancellor, the first Vice-Chancellor and the first members of the Court, the Executive Council and the Academic Council, and all persons who may hereafter become such officers or members, so long as they continue to hold such office or membership, shall constitute the University. (3) The University shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall sue and be sued by the said name. (4) The headquarters of the University shall be at Imphal.

Title: Definitions

.....a College or an Institution maintained by the University and includes, where there is no Principal, the person for the time being duly appointed to act as Principal, and in the absence of the Principal, or the acting Principal, a Vice-Principal duly appointed as such; (p) "recognised teachers" means such persons as may be recognised by the University for the purpose of imparting instructions in a College or an Institution admitted to the privileges of the University; (q) "Regulations" means the Regulations made by any authority of the University under this Act for the time being in force; (r) "School" means a School of Studies of the University; (s) "Statute's" and "Ordinances" mean, respectively, the Statutes and the Ordinances of the University for the time being in force; (t) "teachers of the University" means Professors, Readers, Lecturers and such other persons as may be appointed for imparting instruction or conducting research in the University or in any College or Institution maintained by the University and are designated as teachers by the Ordinances; (u) "University" means the Manipur University established and incorporated as a University under this Act. .....
