Mental Health Act, 1987 Section 65

Title: Power to Make Order Concerning Any Matter Connected with Mentally Ill Person

State: Central

Year: 1987

The District Court may, on an application made to it by any person concerning any matter whatsoever connected with the mentally ill person or his property, make such order, subject to the provisions of this Chapter, in relation to that matter as in the circumstances it thinks fit.

Title: Amendment of Act 20 of 1963

.....the Act, for the words "a Union territory", "any Union territory" or "every Union territory", wherever they occur, the words "the Union territory" shall be substituted; (b) in section 2, in sub-section (1), for Clause (h), the following clause shall be substituted, namely; (h) "Union territory" means the Union territory of Pondicherry.'; (c) in Section 3,-- (i) for sub-section (4), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:-- "(4) Seats shall be reserved for the Scheduled Castes in the Legislative Assembly of the Union ternt'ory.'"; (ii) for sub-section (6), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely :-- "(6) Notwithstanding anything in sub-section (4), the reservation of seats for the Scheduled Castes in the Legislative Assembly of the Union territory shall cease to have effect on the same date on which the reservation of seats for the Scheduled Castes in the House of the People shall cease to have effect under Article 334: Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall affect any representation in the Legislative Assembly of the Union territory until the dissolution of the then existing Assembly.".

.....the proceedings before him. (3) For the purposes of the time-limit under sections 149, 153, 154, 155 and 231 and for the purposes of payment of interest under section 243 and 244, in a case referred to in sub-section (1), the period commencing on and from the date of the application to the Settlement Commission under section 245C and ending with the date of receipt by the Income-tax Officer of the order of the Settlement Commission sending the case back to the Income-tax Officer shall be excluded; and where the assessee is a firm, for the purposes of the time-limit for cancellation of registration of the firm under sub-section (1) of section 186, the period aforesaid shall, likewise, be excluded.".

Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 Section 22E

Title: Award of Permanent Lok Adalat to Be Final

Year: 1987

(1) Every award of the Permanent Lok Adalat under this Act made either on merit or in terms of a settlement agreement shall be final and binding on all the parties thereto and on persons claiming under them. (2) Every award of the Permanent Lok Adalat under this Act shall be deemed to be a decree of a civil court. (3) The award made by the Permanent Lok Adalat under this Act shall be by a majority of the persons constituting the Permanent Lok Adalat. (4) Every award made by the Permanent Lok Adalat under this Act shall be final and shall not be called in question in any original suit, application or execution proceeding. (5) The Permanent Lok Adalat may transmit any award made by it to a civil court having local jurisdiction and such civil court shall execute the order as if it were a decree made by that court.]

National Housing Bank Act, 1987 Section 1

Title: Short Title, Extent and Commencement

(1) Every Statute or Ordinance made under this Act shall be published in the Official Gazette. (2) Every Statute or Ordinance made under this Act shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament, while it is in session, for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions, and if, before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the Statute or Ordinance or both Houses agree that the Statute or Ordinance should not be made, the Statute or Ordinance shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that Statute or Ordinance. (3) The power to make Statutes or Ordinances shall include the power to give retrospective effect from a date not earlier than the date of commencement of this Act to Statutes or Ordinances or any of them but no retrospective effect shall be given to any Statute or Ordinance so as to.....

National Housing Bank Act, 1987 Section 11

Title: Meetings of Board

(1) The Board shall meet at such times and places and shall observe such rules of procedure in regard to the transaction of business at its meetings, as may be prescribed. (2) The Chairman, or, if for any reason he is unable to attend a meeting of the Board, the Managing Director, or in the event of both the Chairman and the Managing Director being unable to attend a meeting, any other director nominated by the Chairman in this behalf and in the absence of such nomination, any director elected by the directors present from among themselves at the meeting, shall preside at the meeting. (3) all questions which come up before any meeting of the Board shall be decided by a majority of votes of the directors present and voting, and in the event of an equality of votes, the Chairman, or; in his absence, the person presiding, shall have a second or casting vote.

Title: Director of Board or Member of Committee Thereof Not to Participate in Meetings in Certain Cases

Any director of the Board or any member of a committee, who has any direct or indirect pecuniary interest in any matter coming up for consideration at a meeting of the Board or a committee thereof, shall as soon as possible after relevant circumstances have come to his knowledge, disclose the nature of his interest at such meeting and the disclosure shall be recorded in the minutes of the Board, or the committee, as the case may be, and the director or member shall not take any part in any deliberation or decision of the Board or the committee with respect to that matter.

National Housing Bank Act, 1987 Section 16B

Title: Amount and Security to Be Held in Trust

(1) Any sums received by a borrowing institution in repayment or realisation of loans and advances financed or refinanced either wholly or partly by the National Housing Bank shall, to the extent of the accommodation granted by the National Housing Bank and remaining outstanding, be deemed to have been received by the borrowing institution in trust for the National Housing Bank, and shall accordingly be paid by such institution to the National Housing Bank. (2) Where any accommodation has been granted by the National Housing Bank to a borrowing institution, all securities held, or which may be held, by such borrowing institution on account of any transaction in respect of which such accommodation has been granted, shall be held by such institution in trust for the National Housing Bank]
