Title: Inspection Of, and Extracts From, the Register

(1) the register, other than the special section, shall be open to public inspection during such hours and subject to the payment of such fees, not exceeding rupees twenty-five, as may be prescribed. (2) Any person may upon the payment of such fee, not exceeding rupee one, for every one hundred words, as may be prescribed, require the 1 [Director General] to supply to him a copy of, or extract from, any particulars entered or filed in the register, other than the special section, certified by the 1 [Director General] to be a true copy or extract. (3) A copy of, or extract from, any document entered or filed in the register certified under the hand of the 1 [Director General] or any officer authorised to act in this behalf shall, in all legal proceedings, be admissible in evidence as of equal validity with the original. ________________________ 1. Title: Special Duties of Excise on Certaingoods

.....if the said sub-section had then been repealed by a Central Act. (3) The duties of excise referred to in sub-section (1) in respect of the goods specified therein shall be in addition to the duties of excise chargeable on such goods under the Central Excises Act or any other law for the time being in force and such special duties shall be levied for purposes of the Union and the proceed thereof shall not be distributed among the States. (4) The provisions of the Central Excises Act and the rules made thereunder including those relating to refunds and exemptions from duties, shall, as far as may be, apply in relation to the levy and collection of the duties of excise leviable under this section in respect of any goods as they apply in relation to the levy and collection of duties of excise on such goods under that Act or those rules.

Title: Definitions

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, (a) "appropriate Government" means, as respects a law, relating to a matter enumerated in List I in the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution, the Central Government and as respects any other law, the State Government; (b) "article" means an article of the Constitution; (c) "Council" means the Legislative Council of the State of Punjab; (d) "law" includes any enactment, Ordinance, regulation, order, bye-law, rule, scheme, notification or other instrument having the force of law in the whole or any part of the State of Punjab; (e) "Legislative Assembly" means the Legislative Assembly of the State of Punjab.

.....of excise referred to in sub-section (1) in respect of the goods specified therein shall be in addition to the duties of excise chargeable on such goods under the Central Excises Act or any other law for the time being in force and such regulatory duties shall be levied for purposes of the Union and the proceeds thereof shall not be distributed among the States. (4) The provisions of the Central Excises Act and the rules made thereunder including those relating to refunds and exemptions from duties, shall as far as may be, apply in relation to the levy and collection of the regulatory duties of excise leviable under this section in respect of any goods as they apply in relation to the levy and collection of the duties of excise on such goods under that Act or those rules. (5) Every notification issued under sub-section (1) shall, as soon as may be after it is issued, be placed before each House of Parliament.
