No provision of law relating to the winding up of companies shall apply to a subsidiary bank nor shall it be placed in liquidation, save as provided in this Act or by order of the Central Government and in such manner as the Central Government may direct.

Title: Penalty for Contravention of Order Made by Adjudicating Officer, Appellate Board and High Court

If any person fails to pay the penalty imposed by the adjudicating officer or the Appellate Board or the High Court or fails to comply with any of his or its directions or orders, he shall, upon conviction by a court, be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both.

Indian Forest Act, 1927 Section 57

Title: Procedure when Offender Not Known or Cannot Be Found

When the offender is not known or cannot be found, the Magistrate may, if he finds that an offence has been committed, order the property in respect of which the offence has been committed to be confiscated and taken charge of by the Forest-officer or to be made over to the person whom the Magistrate deems to be entitled to the same: Provided that no such order shall be made until the expiration of one month from the date of seizing such property, or without hearing the person, if any, claiming any right thereto, and the evidence, if any, which he may produce in support of his claim.

Government of India Act, 1858 [Repealed] Section 57

Title: Provisions for Persons Hereafter Entering Her Majestys Indian Forces

Year: 1858

Provided, That it shall be lawful fur Her Majesty from Time to Time by Order in Council to alter or regulate the Terms and Conditions of Service under which Persons hereafter entering Her Majesty's Indian Forces shall be commissioned, enlisted, or entered to serve, and the Forms of Attestation and of the Oath or Declaration to be used and taken or made respectively on attesting Persons to serve in Her Majesty's Indian Forces shall be such as Her Majesty with regard to the European Forces, and the Governor General of India in Council with regard to the Native Forces, shall from Time to Time direct: Provided, that every such Order in Council shall be laid before both Houses of Parliament within Fourteen Days after the making thereof, if Parliament be sitting and if Parliament be not sitting, then within Fourteen Days after the next Meeting thereof.

Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 Section 57

Title: Appointment of Chief Commissioner for Persons Withdisabilities

(1) The Central Government may, by notification, appoint a Chief Commissioner for persons with disabilities for the purposes of this Act. (2) A person shall not be qualified for appointment as the Chief Commissioner unless he has special knowledge or practical experience in respect of matters relating to rehabilitation. (3) The salary and allowances payable to and other terms and conditions of service (including pension, gratuity and other retirement benefits) of the Chief Commissioner shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government. (4) The Central Government shall determine the nature and categories of officers and other employees required to assist the Chief Commissioner in the discharge of his functions and provide the Chief Commissioner with such officers and other employees as it thinks fit. (5) The officers and employees provided to the Chief Commissioner shall discharge their functions under the general superintendence of the Chief Commissioner. (6) The salaries and allowances and other conditions of service of officers and employees provided to the Chief Commissioner shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government.

Railways Act, 1989 Section 57

Title: Maximum Number of Passengers for Each Compartment

Subject to the approval of the Central Government, every railway administration shall fix the maximum number of passengers which may be carried in each compartment of every description of carriage, and shall exhibit the number so fixed in a conspicuous manner inside or outside each compartment in Hindi, English and also in one or more of the regional languages commonly in use in the areas served by the railway.

Goa, Daman and Diu Reorganisation Act, 1987 Section 57

Title: Special Provision as to Income-tax

Where the assets, rights and liabilities of any body corporate carrying on business are, under the provisions of this Part, transferred to any other bodies corporate which after the transfer carry on the same business, the losses of profits or gains sustained by the body corporate first mentioned which, but for such transfer, would have been allowed to be carried forward and set off in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VI of the Income-tax Act, 1961 shall be apportioned amongst the transferee bodies corporate in accordance with the rules to be made by the Central Government in this behalf and, upon such apportionment, the share of loss allotted to each transferee body corporate shall be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VI of the said Act as if the transferee body corporate had itself sustained such loss in a business carried on by it in the years in which these losses were sustained.

Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 57

Title: Regulations for Registry of Alterations

State: Central

Year: 1958

(1) For the purpose of registry of an alteration in a ship the ship's certificate of registry shall be produced to the registrar, and the registrar shall, in his discretion, either retain the certificate of registry and grant a new certificate of registry containing a description of the ship as altered or endorse and sign on the existing certificate a memorandum of the alteration. (2) The particulars of the alteration so made, and the fact of the new certificate having been granted, or endorsement having been made, shall be entered by the registrar of the ship's port of registry in his register books, and for that purpose the registrar to whom the application for the registry of the alteration has been made (if he is not the registrar of the ship's port of registery) shall forthwith report to the last mentioned registrar the particulars and facts as aforesaid, accompanied, where a new certificate of registry has been granted, by the old certificate of registry.
