Title: Wife's liability for post-nuptial debts

If a married woman (whether married before or after the first day of January, 1866) possesses separate property, and if any person enters into a contract with her with reference to such property, or on the faith that her obligation arising out of such contract will be satisfied out of her separate property, such person shall be entitled to sue her, and to the extent of her separate property, to recover against her whatever he might have recovered in such suit had she been unmarried at the date of the contract and continued unmarried at the execution of the decree : 1 [Provided that nothing herein contained shall-- (a) entitle such person to recover anything by attachment and sale or otherwise out of any property which has been transferred to a woman or for her benefit on condition that she shall have no power during her marriage to transfer or charge the same or her beneficial interest therein, or (b) affect the liability of a husband for debts contracted by his wife's agency expressed or implied.] _______________________ 1. (2) The employer shall pay, in respect of each seaman (being a member) employed by him, both the employer's contribution and the employee's contribution and shall be entitled to recover from the seaman the employee's contribution by deduction from his wages and not otherwise. (3) Every employer shall also pay such sums of money as may be specified in the Scheme towards the cost of administering the Fund. (4) Where the amount of any contribution under sub-section (1) or any sum payable under sub-section (3) contains a part of a rupee then, if such part if fifty paise or more, it shall be increased to one complete rupee and if such part is less than fifty paise it shall be ignored. ________________________ 1. THE KERALA PUBLIC MEN'S CORRUPTION (INVESTIGATIONS AND INQUIRIES) AMENDMENT ACT, 1992 [Act No. 4 of 1992] PREAMBLE An Act further to amend the Kerala Public Men's Corruption (Investigations and inquiries) Act, 1987. Preamble.- WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Kerala Public Men's Corruption (Investigations and Inquiries) Act, 1987 for the purposes hereinafter appearing; Be it enacted in the Forty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Section 1 - Short title and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Kerala Public Men's Corruption (Investigations and Inquiries) Amendment Act, 1992. .....Act 55 of 1955, s.8, for the first paragraph (w.e.f.1st July 1956)} [If any person has subscribed to any declaration in respect of a newspaper under section 5 and the declaration has been authenticated by a Magistrate under section 6 and subsequently that person ceases to be the printer or publisher of the newspaper mentioned in such declaration, he shall appear before any District, Presidency or Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and make and subscribe in duplicate the following declaration:-- "I, A.B., declare that I have ceased to be the printer or publisher or printer and publisher of the newspaper entitled ------".] Authentication and filing.- Each original of the latter declaration shall be authenticated by the signature and seal of the Magistrate before whom the said latter declaration shall have been made, and one original of the said latter declaration shall be filed along with each original of the former declaration. Inspection and supply of copies.- The Officer-in-Charge of each original of the latter declaration shall allow any person applying to inspect that original on payment of a fee of one rupee, and shall give to any person applying a copy of the said latter.....
