THE KERALA WOMEN'S COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2007 ACT 27 OF 2007 THE KERALA WOMEN'S COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2007 An Act further to amend the Kerala Women's Commission Act, 1991. Preamble.- WHEREAS, it is expedient further to amend the Kerala Women's Commission Act, 1991 (17 of 1995) for the purposes hereinafter appearing; BE it enacted in the Fifty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Kerala Women's Commission (Amendment) Act, 2007. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 24th day of January, 2007. 2. Amendment of section 2.- In section 2 of the Kerala Women's Commission Act, 1991 (17 of 1995) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), after clause (h), the following clause shall be inserted, namely:- "(ha) "Secretary" means the Member Secretary of the Commission appointed under sub-section (1) of section 12;". 3. (2) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, sections 2 to 93 shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April, 2007. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows: - CHAPTER I Short title, extent and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Prisons Act, 2007 (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim; (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, in the official gazette appoint. Definitions. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires: - (a) "civil prisoner" means any prisoner who is not a criminal prisoner; 2 . (b) "Competent authority" means any officer having jurisdiction and legal authority to deal with a particular matter in question; (c) "convicted criminal prisoner" means any criminal prisoner under sentence of court or court-martial, and includes a person detained in prison under the provision of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973; (d) "Court" includes any officer lawfully exercising civil, criminal or revenue jurisdiction; (e) "criminal prisoner" means any prisoner duly committed to custody.....
