.....cases. 3. The present Bill seeks to achieve these objects.-Gaz. of Ind., 3-8- 19S9, Pt. II, S. 2, Ext., P. 579. Amending Act 34 of 1964.- The Wakf Act, 1954 was enacted to provide for the better administration and supervision of wakfs. The Act was amended in 1959 for the limited purpose of removing certain difficulties arising out of reorganisation of States. Experience of the working of the Act over the last ten years has revealed certain difficulties. It is, therefore, proposed to amend the Act to remove these difficulties and to ensure better administration of wakfs by mutawallis, 2. The main features of the Bill are: (i) The definition of beneficiary in regard to objects of public utility is being broadened to cover all objects obtained by Muslim law. Endowments made by nun-Muslims for support of certain Muslim religious and pious institutions will also come under the purview of the Act. (ii) A Central Wakf Council is proposed to be established. (iii) A provision is being made to enable the establishment of separate Sunni and Shia Boards in any State in which the Shia Wakfs constitute in number more than fifteen per cent. of the total number of wakfs In that State or the.....

THE BOMBAY EXTENSION OF LAWS TO NON-SCHEDULED (PARTIALLY EXCLUDED) AREAS ACT, 1954 [Act No. 68 of 1954]1 [15th November, 1954] PREAMBLE An Act to extend certain Acts to the former partially excluded areas in the State of Bombay. WHEREAS it is expedient to extend certain Acts to certain areas in the State of Bombay which were declared to be partially excluded areas under section 91 of the Government of India Act, 1935, but which have not been declared to be the Scheduled Areas under the Constitution of India; It is hereby enacted in the Fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- _______________ 1 For Statement of Objects and Reasons, see Bombay Government Gazette, Part V, p. 280.

Title: Extension of Laws to Certain Areas
State: Maharashtra

(1) All the Acts specified in the First Schedule and so much of the Acts specified in the Second Schedule as relates to matters with respect to which the State Legislature has power to make laws are hereby extended to, and shall be in force in, the areas specified in the Fourth Schedule (hereinafter referred to as the said areas). (2) So much of the amendments made in the principal Acts specified in column 1 of the Third Schedule by the Acts specified in column 2 thereof as relates to matters with respect to which the State Legislature has powers to make laws shall be deemed to have been made in the said principal Acts with effect from the date on which this Act comes into force and on and from the said date the principal Acts as to amended shall have effect in the said areas. (3) All appointments, delegations, rules, regulations, by-laws, notifications, orders, schemes and forms made or is sued or deemed to have been made or issued under the said Acts and in force shall be deemed to extend to, and be in force in, the said areas until repealed, modified or revised by any competent authority.

Title: Commencement of Acts in Areas Specified in Fourth Schedule
