THE BOMBAY LOCAL AUTHORITIES CENSUS EXPENSES CONTRIBUTION ACT, 19501 [ Act No. 23 of 19502] [10th May, 1950] PREAMBLE An Act to provide for contribution by local authorities to census expenses. WHEREAS it is expedient to make provision for contribution by local authorities of a portion of the expenses incurred in connection with the taking of any census in the State of Bombay and for certain other purposes hereinafter appear ing; It is hereby enacted as follows :- NOTES Objects.- With a view to securing uniformity of law throughout the State of Bombay it was proposed to extend the Bombay Local Authorities Census Expenses Contribution Act, 1950, as in force in the pre-Reorganisation State of Bombay excluding the transferred territories to the remaining areas of the re-organised State of Bombay and to repeal the corresponding law in force in the Vidarbha.- vide Statement of Objects and Reasons.- Mah. 68 of 1959. _________________ 1. This Act was extended to, and, shall in virtue of such extension be in force in the rest of the State of Bombay (vide Bom. 68 of 1959, Section 2). 2. Title: Poweer to Central Government to Control Moving of Sculptures , Carvings or Like Objects

.....the Collector may require. (3) If the Collector refuses to grant such permission, the applicant may appeal to the Commissioner, whose decision shall be final. (4) Any person who moves any object in contravention of a notification issued under sub-section (1), shall be punishable with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees. (5) If the owner of any property proves to the satisfaction of {Substituted by the A.O 1937, by the A.O.1937 for " the L.G."}[the Central Government] that he has suffered any loss or damage by reason of the inclusion of such property in a notification published under sub-section (1), {Substituted by the A.O.1937 for " the L.G."}[the Central Government] shall either (a) exempt such property from the said notification; (b) purchase such property, if it be moveable, at its market - value; or (c) pay compensation for any loss or damage sustained by the owner of such property, if it be immoveable.

(1) If the Central Government considers that any antiquities or class of antiquities ought not to be moved from the place where they are without the sanction of the Central Government, the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, direct that any such antiquity or any class of such antiquities shall not be moved except with the written permission of the Director-General. (2) Every application for permission under sub-section (1) Shall be in such form and contain such particulars as may be prescribed. (3) Any person aggrieved by an order refusing permission may appeal t the Central Government whose decision shall be final.
