Regulation 2 Definitions .-(1) In these regulations, unless the context otherwise requires- (a) "Act" means the Insurance Act, 1938 (4 of 1938); (b) "Authority" means the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority established under sub-section (1) of S.3 of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (41 of 1999); (c) All words and expressions used herein and not defined but defined in the Insurance Act, 1938 (4 of 1938), or in the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999 (41 of 1999), or in the Companies Act, 1956 (1 of 1956) shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in those Acts. Regulation 3 Preparation of financial statements, management report and auditor's report (1) An insurer carrying on life insurance business, after the commencement of these Regulations, shall comply with the requirements of Schedule A. (2) An insurer carrying on general insurance business, after the commencement of these regulations, shall comply with the requirements of Schedule B : Provided that this sub-regulation shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to re-insurers, until separate regulations are.....

.....Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows :- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Finance Act, 2000. (2) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, Sections 2 to 77 shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April, 2000. SECTION 02: INCOME TAX (1) Subject to the provisions of sub-sections (2) and (3), for the assessment year commencing on the 1st day of April, 2000, income-tax shall be charged at the rates specified in Part I of the First Schedule and such tax as reduced by the rebate of income-tax calculated under Chapter VIII-A of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961) (hereinafter referred to as the Income Tax Act) shall be increased,- (a) in the cases to which Paragraphs A, B, C and D of that Part apply, by a surcharge for purposes of the Union; and (b) in the cases to which Paragraph E of that Part applies, by a surcharge, calculated in each case in the manner manner provided therein. Finance Act, 2000 Section 22

Title: Amendment of Section 48

In section 48 of the Income-tax Act,- (i) after the third proviso but before the Explanation, the following shall be inserted with effect from the 1st day of April, 2001, namely :- "Provided also that where shares, debentures or warrants referred to in the proviso to clause (iii) of section 47 are transferred under a gift or an irrevocable trust, the market value on the date of such transfer shall be deemed to be the full value of consideration received or accruing as a result of transfer for the purposes of this section."; (ii) in the Explanation, for clause (v), the following clause shall be substituted and shall be deemed to have been substituted with effect from the 1st day of April, 1993, namely :- '(v) "Cost Inflation Index", in relation to a previous year, means such Index as the Central Government may, having regard to seventy- five per cent. of average rise in the Consumer Price Index for urban non-manual employees for the immediately preceding previous year to such previous year, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify, in this behalf.'.

Finance Act, 2000 Section 64

Title: Amendment of Section 245r

In section 245R of the Income-tax Act, in sub-section (2), for the first proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted with effect from the 1st day of June, 2000, namely:- "Provided that the Authority shall not allow the application where the question raised in the application, - (i) is already pending before any income-tax authority or Appellate Tribunal [except in the case of a resident applicant falling in sub- clause (iii) of clause (b) of section 245N] or any Court; (ii) involves determination of fair market value of any property; (iii) relates to a transaction or issue which is designed prima facie for the avoidance of income-tax [except in the case of a resident applicant falling in sub-clause (iii) of clause (b) of section 245N]:".

Bihar Reorganisation Act, 2000 Complete Act

(4) Where any body corporate constituted under a Central Act, State Act or Provincial Act for the existing State of Bihar or any pan thereof has, by virtue of the provisions of Part II, becomes an inter-State body corporate, the investments in, or loans or advances to, any such body corporate by the existing State of Bihar made before the appointed day shall, save as otherwise expressly provided by or under this Act, be divided between the States of Bihar and Jharkhand in the same proportion in which the assets of the body corporate are divided under the provisions of this part.
