.....the scrutiny of the appeals before they are registered; (iii) to require any appeal presented to the Tribunal to be amended in accordance with the Act and the rules; (iv) subject to the direction of the Tribunal, to fix the date of first hearing of the appeals or other proceedings and issue notices thereof; (v) to direct any formal amendment of records; (vi) to order grant of copies of documents to parties to the proceedings; (vii) to grant leave to inspect the records of the Tribunal; (viii) to dispose of all matters relating to the service of notices or other processes for the issue of fresh notices and for extending the time for filing such appeals and to grant time not exceeding 15 days for filing a reply or rejoinder if any, and to place the matter before the Tribunal for appropriate orders after the expiry of the aforesaid period; (ix) to requisition records from the custody of any court of other authority; (x) to receive appeals within thirty days from the date of death for substitution of legal representatives of the deceased parties during the pendency of the appeals; (xi) to receive and dispose of appeals for substitution, except where the substitution would involve.....

.....Provisions Act, 1952 (19 of 1952)- ; (b) "Tribunal" means the Employees' Provident Funds Appellate Tribunal constituted under Section 70 of the Act. RULE 03: PAY The Presiding Officer shall receive pay in the scale of (Rs 7300-7600) per mensem: Provided that in the case of an appointment as a Presiding Officer of a person who has retired as an judge of a High Court and who is in receipt of or has received or has become entitled to receive any retirement benefits by way of pension and/or gratuity, employer's contribution to the Contributory Provident Fund or other forms of retirement benefits, the pay shall be reduced by the gross amount of pension equivalent of service gratuity or employer's contribution to Contributory Provident Fund or any other form of retirement benefits, if any, but excluding pension equivalent of retirement gratuity, drawn or to be drawn by him. RULE 04: DEARNESS ALLOWANCE The Presiding Officer shall receive dearness allowance appropriate to his pay at the rates admissible to Group 'A' Officers of the Central Government drawing pay in the scale of Rs 7300-7600. (1) The Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules for carrying out the purposes of this Act. (2) Every rule made by the Central Government under this Act shall be laid, as soon as may be after it is made, before each House of Parliament, while it is in session for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the rule or both Houses agree that the rule should not be made, the rule shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that rule. (1) The Board may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules for carrying out the provisions of this Scheme. (2) Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing power, such rules may provide for the form in which a declaration may be made under sub-section (1) of section 64 and the manner in which these may be verified. (3) The Central Government shall cause every rule made under this Scheme to be laid as soon as may be after it is made before each House of Parliament while it is in session for a total period of thirty days which may be comprised in one session or in two or more successive sessions and if, before the expiry of the session immediately following the session or the successive sessions aforesaid, both Houses agree in making any modification in the rule or both Houses agree that the rule should not be made, the rule shall thereafter have effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that rule.
