Title: Information on Containers and Labels of Infant Milk Substitutes or Infant Foods

.....preparation and a warning against (he health hazards of its inappropriate preparation; (e) the ingredients used; (f) the composition or analysis; (g) the storage conditions required; (h) the batch number, date of its manufacture and the date before which it is to be consumed, taking into account the climatic and storage conditions of the country; (i) such other particulars as may be prescribed. (2) No container or label referred to in, sub-section (1) relating to 1 [infant milk substitute or infant food] shall-- (a) have pictures of an infant or a woman or both; or (b) have pictures or other graphic material or phrases designed (o increase the saleability of 1 [infant milk substitute or infant food] or (c) use on it the word "humanised" or "maternalised" or any other similar word; or (d) bear on it such other particulars as may be prescribed. ____________________________ 1. Title: Packaging and Labelling of Foods

(1) No person shall manufacture, distribute, sell or expose for sale or despatch or deliver to any agent or broker for the purpose of sale, any package food products which are not marked and labelled in the manner as may be specified by regulations: Provided that the labels shall not contain any statement, claim, design or device which is false or misleading in any particular concerning the food products contained in the packaged or concerning the quantity or the nutritive value implying medicinal or therapeutic claims or in relation to the place of origin of the said food products. (2) Every food business operator shall ensure that the labelling and presentation of food, including their shape, appearance or packaging, the packaging materials used, the manner in which they are arranged and the setting in which they are displayed, and the information which is made available about them through whatever medium, does not mislead consumers.

Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 Complete Act

.....Committee appointed by the Legislative Assembly was of the opinion that a more comprehensive measure, providing for the uniform control of manufacture and distribution of drugs as well as of import, was desirable. The Government of India accordingly asked Provincial Governments to invite the Provincial Legislatures to pass resolutions under section 103 of the Government of India Act, 1935, empowering the Central Legislature to pass an Act for regulating such matters relating to the control of drugs as fall within the Provincial Legislative list. Such resolutions have now been passed by all Provincial Legislatures. Chapter II of the Bill establishes a Board of Technical Experts to advise the Central and the Provincial Governments on technical matters. Chapter III provides for the control of the import of drugs into British India. The executive power under this Chapter will accordingly be exercised by the Central Government. Chapter IV relates to control of the manufacture, sale and distribution of drugs and contains the provisions which it is proposed should be enacted in exercise of the power conferred by the resolutions under section 103 of the Government of India Act,.....
