Sikkim Interpretation & General Clauses Act, 1977 Complete Act

.....day of April and ending on the thirty-first day of March next following; (18) "good faith" a thing is deemed to be done in good faith where it is in fact done honestly, whether it is done negligently or not; (19) "Government" or "the Government" includes the State Government as well as the Central Government; (20) "government security" means securities of the Government of Sikkim or any other Government; (21) "Governor" means, as respects the period after the commencement of the Constitution. (Thirty-sixth Amendment) Act, 1975, the Governor of Sikkim; (22) "growing crops" mean crops of all sorts attached to the soil and leaves, flowers and fruits upon and juice in, trees and shrubs; (23) "High Court" means the High Court of Sikkim; (24) "immovable property" includes land, benefits to arise out of land and things attached to the earth or permanently fastened to anything attached to earth but does not include standing timber growing crops or grass; 45 of 1860 (25) "imprisonment" means imprisonment of either description as defined in the Indian Penal Code, 1860; (26) "law" means any law, Act, Ordinance, Proclamation, regulation, rule, notification, order, by-law, scheme or other.....

.....thirty days from the receipt of the arbitral award, the arbitral tribunal to make an additional arbitral award as so claims presented in the arbitral proceedings but omitted from the arbitral award. (5) If the arbitral tribunal considers the request made under sub-section (4) to be justified, it shall make the additional arbitral award within sixty days from the receipt of such request. (6) The arbitral tribunal may extend, if necessary, the period of time within which it shall make a correction, give an interpretation or make an additional arbitral award under sub-section (2) or sub-section (5). (7) Section 31 shall apply to a correction or interpretation of the arbitral award or to an additional arbitral award made under this section.

The Travancorecochin Interpretation and General Clauses (Amendment) Act, 1956[1] Complete Act

.....is pleased to enact as follows:- 1.Short title.-This Act may be called the Travancore-Cochin Interpretation and General Clauses (Amendment) Act, 1956. 2.Amendment of section 2.-In clause (3) of section 2 of the Travancore-Cochin Interpretation and General Clauses Act 1125 (VII of 1125) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the words "and a Proclamaton", the words "a Proclamation and a President's Act" shall be substituted. 3.Amendment of section 3.-For sub-section (1) of section 3 of the principal Act, the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:- "(1) Where any Act is not expressed to come into operation on a particular day, then it shall come into operation on the day on which the Act is first published in the Gazette after it receives the assent of the Rajpramukh or the President, as the case may be.". Title : Interpretation of Evidence to Accused or His Pleader

(1) Whenever any evidence is given in a language not understood by the accused, and he is present in Court in person, it shall be interpreted to him in open Court in a language understood by him. (2) If he appears by pleader and the evidence is given in a language other than the language of the Court and not understood by the pleader, it shall be interpreted to such pleader in that language. (3) When documents are put for the purpose of formal proof, it shall be in the discretion of the Court to interpret as much thereof as appears necessary.

Oaths Act, 1969 Section 4

Title : Oaths or Affirmations to Be Made by Witnesses, Interpreters and Jurors

(c) jurors: Provided that where the witness is a child under twelve years of age, and the court or person having authority to examine such witness is of opinion that, though the witness understands the duty of speaking the truth, he does not understand the nature of an oath or affirmation, the foregoing provisions of this section and the provisions of section 5 shall not apply to such witness; but in any such case the absence of an oath or affirmation shall not render inadmissible any evidence given by such witness nor affect the obligation of the witness to state the truth. (2) Nothing in this section shall render it lawful to administer, in a criminal proceeding, an oath or affirmation to the accused person, unless he is examined as a witness for the defence, or necessary to administer to the official interpreter of any court after he has entered on the execution of the duties of his office, an oath or affirmation that he will faithfully discharge those duties.
