Title: Hoists and Lifts

(2) The following additional requirement shall apply to hoists and lifts used for carrying persons and installed or reconstructed in a factory after the commencement of this Act, namely:-- (a) where the cage is supported by rope or chain, there shall be at least two ropes of chains separately connected with the cage and balance weight, and each rope or chain with its attachments shall be capable of carrying the whole weight of the cage together with its maximum load; (b) efficient devices shall be provided and maintained capable of supporting the cage together with its maximum load in the event of breakage of the ropes, chains or attachments; (c) an efficient automatic device shall be provided and maintained to prevent the cage from over-running. (3) The Chief Inspector may permit the continued, use of a hoist of lift installed in a factory before the commencement of this Act which does not fully comply with the provisions of sub-section (1) upon such conditions for ensuring safely as he may think fit to impose. Title: Hoisting Unlawful Colours in Port

.....or Commonwealth citizen], or sailing under2[Indian or British colours], hoists, carries or wears, within the limits of any port subject to this Act, any flag, jack, pennant or colours, the use whereof on board such vessel has been prohibited by the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, or any other Statute now or hereafter to be in force, or by any proclamation made or to be made in pursuance of any such statute, or by any of3[the regulations] in force for the time being, the master of the vessel shall, for every such offence, be punishable with fine which may extend to fifty rupees. (2) Such fine shall be in addition to any other penalty recoverable in respect of such an offence. Title: Indian Ships to Hoist Proper National Colours in Certain Cases

An Indian ship shall hoist the proper national colours-- (a) on a signal being made to her by any vessel of the Indian Navy; (b) on entering or leaving any foreign port; (c) if of fifty tons gross tonnage or more, on entering or leaving any Indian port.

(1) The master of every inward or outward bound vessel, on arriving within signal distance of any signal station established within the limits of the river Hooghly, or within the limits of any part of a river or channel leading to a port subject to this Act, shall, on the requisition of the pilot in charge of the vessel, signify the name, of the vessel by hoisting the number by which she is known, or by adopting such other means to this end as may be practicable and usual, and shall keep the signal flying until it is answered from the signal station.
