THE SCHEDULE (i) Bustards, ducks, floricans, jungle fowl, partridges,peafowl, pheasants, pigeons, quail, sand-grouse, painted snipe, spurfowl,woodcock, herons, engrets, rollers, and king-fishers. (ii) Antelopes, asses, bison, buffaloes, deer, gazettes,goats, hares, oxen, rhinoceroses3 and sheep. ________________________ 1.In the application of the Act of Bengal, the word"rhinoceroses" has been rep. by Bengal Rhinoceros Preservation Act, 1932(Ben. 8 of 1932) section.7.

.....COGNIZANCE OF OFFENCES No Court inferior to that of a Presidency Magistrate or a Magistrate of the second class shall try any offence against this Act. SECTION 07: POWER TO GRANT EXEMPTION Where the State Government is of opinion that, in the interests of scientific research, such a course is desirable, it may grant to any person a license, subject to such restrictions and conditions as it may impose, entitling the holder thereof to do any act which is by section 3declared to be unlawful. SECTION 08: SAVINGS Nothing in this Act shall be deemed to apply to the capture or killing of a wild animal by any person in defence of himself or any other person, or to the capture or killing of any wild bird or animal in bona fide defence of property. SECTION 09: [REPEAL.] Rep. by the Second Repealing and Amending Act, 1914 (17 of 1914), s. 3 and Sch. II. .....and includes the head or horn, tooth, tusk, bone, claw, hoof, skin, hair, feather, eggs or nest of any bird, but does not include any article manufactured from any such part of the animal or bird as aforesaid; (n) "Vermin" means any animal or bird specified in Schedule I and includes any animal or bird declared to be a vermin under Section 18. SECTION 03: DOMESTICATED AND OTHER ANIMALS AND BIRDS IN CAPTIVITY EXEMPTED Nothing in this Act shall apply to domesticated or other animals or birds which are lawfully captured and kept in captivity. CHAPTER II-AUTHORITIES TO BE APPOINTED OR CONSTITUTED UNDER THE ACT SECTION 04: APPOINTMENT OF WILD LIFE PRESERVATION OFFICER, GAME WARDENS AND OTHER GAME OFFICERS (1) The State Government may for the purposes of this Act appoint,- 1[(a) the Chief Conservator of Forests, Maharashtra State, as the Wild Life Preservation Officer for the State of Maharashtra;] (b) the Game Wardens, either honorary or stipendiary; (c) such other officers and servants as may be necessary. (2) The honorary Game Warden shall ordinarily hold office for a period of three years: Provided that the State Government may terminate his tenure of office at any time without.....
