The Punjab Recruitment of Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) Act, 2001 Complete Act

It is, however, made clear that these appointments are being made as a one-time measure in peculiar facts and circumstances considering the extreme hardships of these Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) and their families. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Fifty- second Year of the Republic of India as follows: Section 1 - Short title and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Punjab Recruitment of Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) Act, 2001. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on and with effect from the 12th day of July, 1992. Section 2 " Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, - (a) "advertised posts" means the actual vacancies on the date of advertisement made on the 12th July, 1992, and shall deem to include anticipated vacancies, which may fall vacant between the date of advertisement and the date of first appointment made in pursuance of the selection process; (b) "appointing authority" means the Director, Health Services, Family Welfare, Punjab; and (c) "Multipurpose Health Workers (Female)" means the Multipurpose Health Workers (Female), who were.....

Title: Procedure when female respondent refuses to cohabit with petitioner

If the respondent be a female, and in answer to the interrogatories of the Judge or Commissioners, as the case may be, shall refuse to cohabit with the petitioner, the Judge, if upon consideration of the respondent's answers and of the facts which may have been proved by the petitioner he shall be of opinion that the ground for: such refusal is the petitioner's change of religion, shall make an order adjourning the case for a year, and directing that, in the interring, the parties shall, at such place and time as he shall deem convenient, have an interview of such length as the Judge shall direct, and in the presence of such person or persons (who may be a female or females) as the Judge shall select, with the view of ascertaining whether or not the respondent freely and voluntarily persists in such refusal.(Adjournment for a year.Interview.)

Hindu Succession Act, 1956 Section 15

Title: General Rules of Succession in the Case of Female Hindus

(1) The property of a female Hindu dying intestate shall devolve according to the rules set out in section 16. (a) firstly, upon the sons and daughters (including the children of any pre-deceased son or daughter) and the husband; (b) secondly, upon the heirs of the husband; (c) thirdly, upon the mother and father; (d) fourthly, upon the heirs of the father; and (e) lastly, upon the heirs of the mother. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1),-- (a) any property inherited by a female Hindu from her father or mother shall devolve, in the absence of any son or daughter of the deceased (including the children of any pre-deceased son or daughter) not upon the other heirs referred to in sub-section (1) in the order specified therein, but upon the heirs of the father; and (b) any property inherited by a female Hindu from her husband or from her father-in-law shall devolve, in the absence of any son or daughter of the deceased (including the children of any pre-deceased son or daughter) not upon the other heirs referred to in sub-section (1) in the order specified therein, but upon the heirs of the husband.

Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 Section 4

Title: Provision for Maintenance and Residence to Female Contracting Party to Child Marriage

State: Central

(1) While granting a decree under section 3, the district court may also make an interim or final order directing the male contracting party to the child marriage, and in case the male contracting party to such marriage is a minor, his parent or guardian to pay maintenance to the female contracting party to the marriage until her remarriage. (2) The quantum of maintenance payable shall be determined by the district court having regard to the needs of the child, the lifestyle enjoyed by such child during her marriage and the means of income of the paying party. (3) The amount of maintenance may be directed to be paid monthly or in lump sum. (4) In case the party making the petition under section 3 is the female contracting party, the district court may also make a suitable order as to her residence until her remarriage.

Title: Power to Compel Restoration of Abducted Females

Upon complaint made on oath of the abduction or unlawful detention of a woman, or a female child under the age of eighteen years, for any unlawful purpose, a District Magistrate, Sub-divisional Magistrate or Magistrate of the first class may make an order for the immediate restoration of such woman to her liberty, or of such female child to her husband, parent, guardian or other person having the lawful charge or such child, and may compel compliance with such order, using such force as may be necessary.

Title: Ineligibility of Females for Enrolment or Employment

No female shall be eligible for enrolment or employment in the regular Army, except in such corps, department, branch or other body forming part of, or attached to any portion of, the regular Army as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf: Provided that nothing contained in this section shall affect the provisions of any law for the time being in force providing for the raising and maintenance of any service auxiliary to the regular Army or any branch thereof in which females are eligible for enrolment or employment.

Hindu Succession Act, 1956 Section 14

Title: Property of a Female Hindu to Be Her Absolute Property

State: Central

(1) Any property possessed by a Female Hindu, whether acquired before or after the commencement of this Act, shall be held by her as full owner thereof and not as a limited owner. Explanation.In this sub-section, "property" includes both movable and immovable property acquired by a female Hindu by inheritance or devise, or at a partition, or in lieu arrears of maintenance, or by gift from any person, whether a relative or not, before, at or after her marriage, or by her own skill or exertion, or by purchase or by prescription, or in any other manner whatsoever, and also any such property held by her as stridhana immediately before the commencement of this Act. (2) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall apply to any property acquired by way of gift or under a will or any other instrument or under a decree or order of a civil court or under an award where the terms of the gift, will or other instrument or the decree, order or award prescribe a restricted estate in such property.

Railways Act, 1989 Section 162

Title: Entering Carriage or Other Place Reserved for Females

If a male person knowing or having reason to believe that a carriage, compartment, berth or seat in a train or room or other place is reserved by a railway administration for the exclusive use of females, without lawful excuse,-- (a) enters such carriage, compartment, room or other place, or having entered such carriage, compartment, room or place, remains therein; or (b) occupies any such berth or seat having been required by any railway servant to vacate it, he shall, in addition to being liable to forfeiture of his pass or ticket, be punishable with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees and may also be removed by any railway servant.
