.....22, the rules made in this behalf or the by-laws of the society,- (a) any individual competent to contract under section 11 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872; (Central Act 9 of 1872) ; (b) any registered society ; (c) the Government, shall be eligible for admission as a member of a registered society : Provided that this section shall not apply in the case of a society formed exclusively for the benefit of the students of any college or school. OPIUM ACT, 1857 OPIUM ACT, 1857 An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to the cultivation of the poppy and the manufacture of opium 2 [* *]. SECTION 08: POWER TO ENTER BUILDINGS FOR ASCERTAINING QUANTITY OF GAS CONSUMED The Clerk, Engineer, or other officer duly appointed for the purpose by the said Company may, at all reasonable times, enter any buildings or place lighted with Gas supplied by the said Company, in order to inspect the meters, fittings, and works for regulating the supply of Gas, and for the purpose of ascertaining the quantity of Gas consumed or supplied; and if any person hinder such officer as aforesaid from entering and making such inspection as aforesaid at any reasonable time; he shall, for every such offence, forfeit to the said Company a sum not exceeding fifty rupees. .....Court to the contrary, all taxes levied, or collected or purporting to have been levied or collected under The Pondicherry Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1966 (Act No.4 or 1966) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall, for all purposes, be deemed to be and to have always been, validly levied or collected under this provisions of this Act, and accordingly- (a) any rule, order or appointment purporting to have been made, any decision or direction purporting to have been given, any action or proceeding purporting to have been taken, or anything purporting to have been done under any provision of the said Act shall be deemed to be and to have been a rule, order or appointment made, decision or direction given, action or proceeding taken, or thing done under the corresponding provision of this Act ; (b) no suit or other proceedings shall be maintained or continued in any Court against the Government or any person or authority whatsoever for the refund of any taxes so paid ; and (c) no Court shall enforce any decree or order directing the refund of any taxes so paid.
