Title: Power to Cut off Water Supply

.....connected with the corporation water supply to be placed, removed, repaired or otherwise interfered with in contravention of the provisions of this Act, the rules or bye-laws made thereunder: Provided that the Commissioner shall not cut off the supply of water unless notice of not less than three days has been given to the owner or occupier of the premises. (2) (a) The owner and the occupier of the premises shall be jointly and severally liable for the payment of all the sums referred to in clause (c) of sub-section (1). (b) The sums referred to in clause (a) shall be a charge on the premises. (3) The expenses of cutting off the supply shall be payable by the owner and occupier of the premises jointly and severally. (4) In respect of any premises from which water supply is cut off under clause (c) of sub-section (1), as soon as any money for non-payment of which water has been cut off together with the expenses of cutting off the supply has been paid by the owner or occupier, the Commissioner shall cause water to be supplied as before on payment of the cost of re-connecting the premises with the water works. Title: Cutting off or Withholding Essential Supply or Service

.....order directing the landlord to restore the amenities immediately, pending the inquiry referred to in sub-section (4). Explanation. --An interim order may be passed under this sub-section without giving notice to the landlord. (4) If the Controller on inquiry finds that the essential supply or service enjoyed by the tenant in respect of the premises was cut off or withheld by the landlord without just and sufficient cause, he shall make an order directing the landlord to restore such supply or service. (5) The Controller may in his discretion direct that compensation not exceeding fifty rupees-- (a) be paid to the landlord by the tenant, if the application under sub-section (2) was made frivolously or vexatiously; (b) be paid to the tenant by the landlord, if the landlord had cut off or withheld the supply or service without just and sufficient cause. Title: Cutting off or Withholding Essential Supply or Service

Explanation-- An interim order may be passed under this sub-section without giving notice to the landlord or the tenant as the case may be. Title: Power to Cut off Private Water Supply or to Turn off Water

(1) The Chairperson may, subject to the conditions laid down in this behalf in the bye-laws, cut off or turn off water supply from any municipal water work to any premises or part thereof to which a private water supply is furnished by the Council. (2) The expenses of cutting off or turning off water supply shall be paid by the owner or occupier of premises and shall be recoverable from the owner or occupier as an arrear of tax under this Act.

Title: Manager Not to Cut Off, With-hold, Curtail or Reduce Essential Supply or Service

.....such application. No appeal shall lie from any order made on such application. (6) The District Court, may, for the purpose of satisfying itself that the order made on an application made under sub-section (2) was according to law, call for the case in which such order was made and pass such order with respect thereto as it thinks fit. Title: Striking Gear and Devices for Cutting off Power

.....which fo r m part of the transmission machinery, and such gear or appliances shall be so constructed, pla c ed and maintained as to prevent the belt from creeping back on the fast pulley; (b) driving belts when not in use shall not be allowed to rest or ride upon shafting in motion.
